I have been working at Shoppers Drug Mart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly environment, great employees, time management was done well. A lot of customers, so it wasn't a dull job either.

    Cons

Sometimes it could be demanding. The pharmacist to assistant ration was a little compromising. On your feet all day.

    Advice to Management

Train the assistants more to suit the job description rather than just being a lower sector of the pharmacy.

I worked at Shoppers Drug Mart (More than a year)

    Pros

It was quite an easy job, but I worked at a smaller store.

    Cons

During slow times it was extremely boring.

I worked at Shoppers Drug Mart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The discount was pretty good and come of my co-workers really in fact pretty awesome

    Cons

I really hated how our store wasn't busy, so they wouldn't schedule that many cashiers, but when the lines got busy and customers got mad, the cashiers got in trouble for it. It's not the cashiers fault if the lines.. stop being so cheap and put another cashier on a shift. Also, I really hated how the make up department always gave cashiers trouble for cashing out customers with make up products because it reduced their sales. I understand.. but what are you going to do force customers to purchase products on the other side? Also, another thing I really hated it, is that cashiers don't get paid to cash out till. so if you end your shfit at 12, you don't get paid for that extra 15 minutes you spent counting till. Actually, the worst.

    Advice to Management

Actually pay your employees for your time and stop being so cheap.

I have been working at Shoppers Drug Mart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Each store has a different associate owner but thankfully mine is wonderful to work for. There is room for advancement, considerate of family obligations, and overall a great place to work. I love the fact it is non unionised. Finally starting to see some useful tools coming down from head office to make our jobs easier

    Cons

Head office has a huge say in what gets shipped to the stores, it makes it challenging to keep stock levels to a reasonable amount. I wish that we had more say over the amounts of new stock sent ( 35 bottles of Justin Beibers "The Key" really?!?!) I've been sitting on it for 2 years. I also have 101 maybelline primers ....

    Advice to Management

Lead by example. If you are lazy and miserable, your staff will also be lazy and miserable. Explain things thoroughly and keep your staff informed on what's going on. Treat them with respect and you'll receive the same

I worked at Shoppers Drug Mart (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount and optimum points (Although this is the company's hidden agenda to get you buy more products from the store)

    Cons

Long 8 hour shifts, needed to request days off 3 weeks in advance, minimum wage, not paid for any overtime or to cash out. The store was very busy and understaffed so company could make more money, but customers and employees suffered. Passport photos are a nightmare... We are not trained photographers and having to take someone's photo by the drink cooler in a very busy store that was always understaffed was dreadful.

    Advice to Management

Advice to the multi-million (billion?) dollar company... Increase wages to a decent wage and employees would be happier and may stick around longer.

    Pros

Associate make or break the store. Great associate and pharmacy to work with. The front store are also very helpful

    Cons

Pay is on the lower side. Hope there is more room for growth to so will stick with the company longer

    Advice to Management

    Raise the minimum payment
