I worked at Shoppers Drug Mart full-time

    Pros

Great people and culture with positive company values that employees live up to. Office is well located, compensation and benefits are competitive,

    Cons

Open question on how company will operate now that acquisition is complete. Stores will likely be unaffected but corporate staff may be impacted by new management, culture, etc. of Loblaws.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the strong people. Recognize, reward and retain top talent.

I have been working at Shoppers Drug Mart full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The staff discount is pretty good.
As a cosmetician you have the opportunity to make a lot of money in commission
    lots of free products!

    Cons

Full time here is considered 28 hours a week, so if you are getting 28 hours, you're actually clocking in 26 after breaks. It's hard to make this job a "career" unless you are a manager. Also, the management at my store don't practice the proper policies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train managers more before letting them jump into a management position. Especially if they are younger.

    Pros

Its warm and dry and clean

    Cons

Not everyone pulls their weight and many people work to their own set of rules. No teamwork

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Micro-managing your employees doesn't seem to be working, maybe try a new management style.

I worked at Shoppers Drug Mart part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

You get to interact with a lot of people on a daily basis. From co-workers I've spoken with, management sounds like it is very hit-or-miss across stores. I was actually very pleased with my direct manager, and the store's associate.

    Cons

Not particularly valuable on your resume for technical experience. Any retail job seems to be good as the next. Scheduling time-off can be a big hassle if you work at a smaller store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work.

I have been working at Shoppers Drug Mart part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

First, the flexibility of the schedule is very good. Second,30percent discount for employees. Very well managed by the owner and Front store manager. The workplace becomes a relaxed environment because majority of the employees treat you like a family:) There are always contests on surveys and optimum sign ups which I often win and keeps me motivated!

    Cons

Compensation is on the low side

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give a little bit more increase on the compensation especially if the employee has a satisfactory work ethics and professionalism.
