I have been working at Shoprite Supermarkets part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I like how we get to pick hours, my availability is only like 20 hours and it usually gets filled up. We also get
guaranteed raises once we have been there for a while, I started at 8.25 and I'm at 11.00 now after 2 years, mind you for a good 5 months I only worked 8 hours a week due to school.

    Cons

Once you begin the customers will be intimidating, but after a while you know what you are doing so it becomes less scary. The beginning of the month is when the entitled food stamp customers come in who are usually rude and feel as they can boss you around but besides that customers are OK.

It was a good experience working for this company. I came across a lot of challenges learning how to slice cold cuts.

    I worked at Shoprite Supermarkets

    Pros

One of the best reasons for working at Shoprite was it was very close to home. The other is I met a lot of grate people. both co-workers and customers. The company treated their employees with respect, I felt at ease on my first interview.

    Cons

Some of the challenges were having to left the meat they are a lot heavier then one might think. Slicing it just right for each customer. The manager of the deli at the time seem to have her favorites when it came down to certain things.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel over all the company is pretty fair to their employees.

I worked at Shoprite Supermarkets full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Compensation is good. Good company if you go the extra mile, you can move up easily. We did have several different training sessions with occasional tests.

    Cons

Some of the positions did require traveling to other stores which we did not get reimbursed. Because it is a grocery store it can be very busy at times.

I have been working at Shoprite Supermarkets part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You barely have to do any work here, just a minimum at most. The culture is very relaxed, depending on who your manager is in your department

    Cons

no real room to move up, hard cap at 24 hours, even though this year Obama extended break for businesses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen up on the hours, there is a 30 hour cap, not 24. If we have healthcare, we shouldn't be capped either
