If you enjoy a creative atmosphere you should try working as an usher in the broadway theatres.

I have been working at Shubert Organization part-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

You get to see the broadway shows, interact with patrons and you don't have to work at one particular theatre.

    Cons

If you are not a permanent usher at a theater that has a long running show like Phantom of the Opera or Chicago, you may be out of work for a while as some shows have limited runs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire more ushers.

I worked at Shubert Organization full-time for less than a year

    Pros

a company with a prestigious name that is not going anywhere soon...a very stable and lucrative situation for some

    Cons

If you do not fit into the "culture," you are lost. There is a modern day "sweatshop ideology that abounds. Its not the work that is the problem, it is the attitude of Management toward staff. They treat employees with little regard and have creative ways of getting rid of unwanted employees. You could be threatened with termination but that will happen when you are alone with no way to prove the conversation. Management will cut you down with strong arm tactics if you don't play the game. I don't blame the organization itself, I blame the soulless team that now runs operations. Do not expect loyalty from fellow employees or Management.

I worked at Shubert Organization full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people at work are very eccentric and creative
You get to see some great broadway shows

    Cons

To much focus on selling a 3rd party product in a script than selling tickets and getting to the next customer

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ease up on how much you put in the script and more about helping as many customers as possible.

    I worked at Shubert Organization

    Pros

Stable company..been around for over 100 years...great benefits

    Cons

Management has no sense of employee loyalty. Employees are treated like replacable cogs on a wheel. Seniority superceeds all-even honesty. You also have to fit in with a very specific office culture. You MUST watch your back. I would suggest you keep a notebook of what was said to you and what you were asked to do. If you are in training, every mistake you make will be logged and you could end up being terminated or threatened with termination and if that is the case, expect them to fight against you receiving unemployment benefits. Don't expect to walk in all bright eyed and bushy tailed fill of optimisim and ideas. Again, if you do not fit in with the culture, you will be canned one way or another. There is a very fast turnaround of staff, particularly at Broadway Inbound, a divsion of the Shubert Organization. If you are just starting out in your a career, it may be a good place to make connections and maybe stay a year or two but against, the the watch phrase is "watch your back!"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. This is an old school company that is very successful and will not change.
