    Listen, back up your Staff, Learn your restaurant, have some kind of back ground in management/get a degree!

    Pros

    The staff at Shula's has longevity and makes an excellent team. The service is professional and offers the opportunity to create an excellent experience for the guests. It also offers the opportunity to have high sales in food, wine and alcohol and the product to back it up.
    The management expects you to do your job well and does not micromanage.
    The opening and closing side work is less than most restaurant jobs and has the much appreciated cleaning crew to finish off floors at night.
    Being inside the Wynfrey Hotel joins the staff with hotel staff . The Wynfrey Hotel, managed by Davidson Hotel Group offers benefits to full time employees. These benefits include PTO time, insurance, federal savings and 401k.

    Cons

    The service staff doesn't have all the supplies needed and this causes stress, especially when busy. The general manager is overworked and there is no assistant. Shula's is open for lunch as of a year or so ago and is very inconsistent with the number of guests and the ability to serve them well. This has been getting better in the last month.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be direct in dealing with the staff concerning consistency and professionalism.
    Be fair when assigning parties, sections and partners as well as with scheduling. This includes shifts and time off as well. Acknowledge and reward good performance with all staff. Reprimand and discipline slack and unprofessional behavior with everyone. Be encouraging and motivating.
    Increase moral.Take time off to relax and refresh.

    Pros

    Working the AM shift you get out early, which gives you an opportunity to get a second job or do other stuff.

    Cons

    The side work servers have to do is RIDICULOUS!
    > TOO MUCH

    Listen to employees more often and try to help out when we are busy instead of making our job harder.
