Pros
The corporate culture is amazing. The people are amazing. The company really cares about its people and treats them like family.
Cons
Very entrenched in the way things are done currently, though there is constant talk of improving things. Very slow development cycles. Very high attrition of some of the best people. Other people get pigeonholed and never get to move from one role to another.
Advice to Senior Management
I gave plenty in my exit interviews.
Pros
nice people
approachable sr. management
pleasant atmosphere in office
Cons
no work life balance
poor vacation policy
little flexibility
not good for parents with kids
Advice to Senior Management
some of the 'fun' cultural/company activities seem forced and like you're in elementary school
Pros
- lots of young, smart people who are passionate about the product and the customer
Cons
- inexperienced management team. overall, very little experience managing teams and developing the people, making advancement opportunities hard to come by
- micro-management culture
- some poorly defined teams and processes
- weak benefits (pay, vacation, etc)
- not the greatest work/life balance particularly given the benefits
Advice to Senior Management
Let go... just a little will go a long way! There is a ton of value to letting people make mistakes so that they can learn and grow. You do a great job hiring so let these people work to their potential! Engage your employees to want to do more! They want to (well, many of them) but your heavy handed management style puts a cap to the level of enthusiasm and ownership that folks take on. It's a big handicap right now and is going to impact your ability to grow and maintain leadership in the industry.
Pros
- collegiate atmosphere. everyone works together and plays together. great friendships.
- surrounding by a lot of smart, passionate people
- people are passionate about the brand
- the founders and senior level execs are friendly and approachable, they really care about their employees
- work/life balance and flexibility
Cons
- company in awkward growing stage, trying to figure out who they are
- a lot of young employees who wants aggressive promotions faster than they are available
- clash between new and older and employees at times
- benefits are o-k for the valley
Advice to Senior Management
value employees, keep communication open
Pros
- Great senior leadership, direction, inspiration and accountability
- Team-oriented and you really believe that as a start-up, they'd look out for their employees
- Growth oriented and talented staff
- Fun culture - young but still very family friendly
Cons
- Not the most fun location - would be more vibrant if relocated to the city
Advice to Senior Management
Great job!
Pros
Tiny Prints is by far the most employee-friendly company I've worked for. This company REALLY cares about the happiness of its employees, and strives to create all kind of rewards and activities to keep us stimulated and excited! The training program was also exceptional.
Cons
Holiday season is very stressful, but there's probably not a lot that can be done about that. It also is a little frustrating that there isn't a lot of flexibility when it comes to time off during the holidays.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing so far! Great job! You guys rock! Just keep doing what you're doing, and keeping us informed and aware of what's going on.
Pros
Food! People that work at Tiny Prints love food. From snacks in the kitchen to Bake Off Competitions. Food is a part of the Tiny Prints work culture.
Cons
Sometimes it is hard to see things change. Since Tiny Prints is still a fairly new and growing company there are always changes happening. The changes are always for the good of the company, but personally sometimes it is hard to adjust.
Advice to Senior Management
Please continue to do what you are doing. I love that you are open to suggestions from everyone in the company and I hope that never changes!
Pros
TinyPrints has a proven business model and is funding its own growth which is great in a down economy.
TinyPrints saw tremendous growth in revenue, profits and employee growth over the past few years, even when the economy was impacting every business in a negative way.
TinyPrints has a lot of smart employees and a management team that is dedicated to recognizing, empowering and rewarding those who make a difference.
TinyPrints has a very welcoming work atmosphere. It's not a dry work place like many other startups.
Cons
Seasonal patterns affects work hours during holidays, but it's getting better.
There's a lot of exciting projects to work on, but not always have enough people to do them.
Employee growth has contributed to poor parking conditions.
Advice to Senior Management
We need a big, exciting sign that shows us as a growth, web 2.0 company that conveys a lot of excitement and attracts attention for people driving by, and looking for us.
Pros
- The culture is vibrant and encouraging; you cannot help but feel motivated when you see the excitement in your coworkers' eyes. There is always something new and fun happening to make the employees smile or feel incredibly appreciated for all of their efforts.
- The product is amazing; I am so proud to be working for such a personal product and always sharing about Tiny Prints all the time.
- The opportunity for personal and professional growth is outstanding; the sky is the limit at Tiny Prints. Someone is always there to help you get where you need to go.
Cons
- You must learn to thrive in an open office environment; there are no other floors besides the one that everyone works on together. It truly is like working on a football field.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to find small ways of encouraging staff to be more productive, more outgoing, more EVERYTHING.
The incentive to step out of our shells goes such a long way, means so much more than just the small chotsky we may receive as a reward, and really deepens the meaning of being a part of such a valuable company.
Pros
It is full of great people. The founders are real leaders and very inspiring team. Very creative company, it real fun to work here. I like the tiny prints business model.
Cons
Aggressive deadlines, this should be relaxed a little bit since we are now moving from start-up mode to bigger company. They should offer more vacation days.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the leadership spirit going on. Don't be too aggressive but keep progressing in the right direction. Would love if you share details with the employees more.
