    Pros

Good leaders, fellow employees are friendly and great to work with, great benefits, training in all areas, known for great patient care, leadership keeps employees informed.

I have been working at Sibley Memorial Hospital full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The patients are interesting and from many parts of the world.

    Cons

This used to be a great efficient hospital. The Sibley CEO is universally despised. He has breakfasts sent in to him. He skips medical staff meetings (actually went on a ski vacation but lied about it). He had an "Innovation Center" built to resemble an adolescent play room, replete with foosball tables. This displaced long serving dedicated staff to a remote satellite office without parking. Unfortunately health care professionals have been dismissed as objects to be taken over, subjugated and humiliated. The Hospital is now in decline with drastic volume losses particularly in once strong areas like cancer. The leaders in radiation oncology, breast imaging and gastroenterology have all left and they are backfilling with undertrained staff or cast-offs from other programs. Truly sad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is a small hospital. We can see you hiding behind the foosball table. Act like you care about people and at least fake a sense of respect for the dignity of patients and the health care profession. This isn't Google. It is medicine. Quit trying to buy ego boosting proton accelerators and get back to the basics like efficient quality care.

I worked at Sibley Memorial Hospital as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Small hospital environment, everyone is very friendly. Rated one of the best ERs in the country. People are generally happy with their experience at Sibley.

    Cons

Awful cafeteria. The hospital is small but expanding....until the expansion takes place the hospital lacks a lot of the facilities that other trauma hospitals have such as a cardiac cath etc.

I have been working at Sibley Memorial Hospital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Nursing and support staff genuinely care for their patients.
Team atmosphere helps staff when patient/nurse ratios are above standard

    Cons

Pay does not match area standards
Benefits, especially tuition reimbursement is not the best
Senior management does not care or support the care givers at the bedside
Response to surveys is negligible or provided as "lip service".
    No real change occurs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe Johns Hopkins will respond to survey results, or the increase in the number of staff that are leaving.

I have been working at Sibley Memorial Hospital full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Commitment to staff, small hospital atmosphere, pay for training/school, patients mostly from ritziest part of town. Many employees stay for decades.

    Cons

Pay relatively low, physicians traditionally have enormous power over nursing staff, an organization very resistant to change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since the Johns Hopkins merger, there's been a lot of muttering about what changes are going to happen. There has been little guidance from management beyond cliched platitudes about excellence and commitment.

I have been working at Sibley Memorial Hospital

    Pros

Sibley is a wonderful community hospital that provides great employee relationships, wonderful patient care and is extremely customer focused. Sibley also has great Leadership and Management Teams. The Hospital is in a growth and expansion phase and has signed a partnership with Johns Hopkins Medicine that will continue to place Sibley as a leader in healthcare.

    Cons

Sibley salaries reflect that of a community hospital, however the great working environment, location, and free parking offset a slightly lower salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue doing a great job maintaining Sibley's wonderful reputation in the community!

I have been working at Sibley Memorial Hospital

    Pros

Family atmosphere on the nursing units. Nurses by in large support each other.

    Cons

Pay and benefits are the lowest in the region. Support for continuing education is minimal. Acknowledgement of professional certifications is not embraced and encouraged.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Attention to a multidisciplinary supportive environment where nurses are not afraid to voice their concerns and assessments

I have been working at Sibley Memorial Hospital

    Pros

Nice location, easy patients, flexible hours

    Cons

    Lowest pay in DC area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More competitive pay would be nice, though I would take better tuition benefits in lieu of better pay. This is a very nice place to work. The staff is friendly, the facilities are clean, I am very happy here.

I worked at Sibley Memorial Hospital

    Pros

Difference daily experience, great people, no 2 days the same. Free parking in washington, d.c.. great location, fast pace. premium pay and overnight pay. job tenure of people. people that wants to stay. they have been at the same place for over twenty five years.

    Cons

low pay, no advancement, poor recognition with people on a job well done. bad management skills. unheatlyh environment. The "profit sharing is low" better menu options, Management should look up into a comparable salary for the support staff. Better system needs to be implemented. only 6 holidays. hard to take vaction days since not enough people in the department. Need better incentive for people to stay and better management style.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should lookup into doing a compareable salary rate for the support staff
