    Pros

-Chance to work with intelligent people -Access to a wide variety of benefits (in office/out of office) -Working for a big name -Excellent location

    Cons

-Working with people who have been here 30 years and are set in their ways -No room for growth -No changes in practice groups -Being able to trust is a hard thing to come by here -Lower end of the salary spectrum for a Legal Secretary in D.C. w/ over 5+ years experience

    Advice to Management

Offer more room for growth for staff (Legal Secretaries) there are Associate/Partner/Paralegal Lunches but no one seems to think about everything the secretaries do and someone keeping morale up for them.

    Pros

Great firm to work with, benefits are good and co-workers are great to work with.

    Cons

Working with the current secretarial management team is the pits. Very unprofessional and petty. Once they get their claws in you, that's it they will not let up. Attorney's aren't the ones complaining, it's management.

    Advice to Management

Management needs more training on professionalism.

    Cons

no telecommuting, long hours, very little room for growth

    Pros

It's a great place to learn and get your feet wet as an attorney. Training opportunities are great.

    Cons

Bonuses don't include massive practice development hours requirements. Will reassure you that hours are not that important first and second years, but it's the only thing focused on in reviews.

    Advice to Management

Start recognizing the practice development that all regulatory associates are required to do.

    Pros

Work load was not overwhelming. Colleagues were friendly and helpful. About as family friendly as a big law firm can be.

    Cons

Like most big law firms, hours requirement mandates a long day on a regular basis and some weekend work.

    Pros

Good location and decent commute; plenty of opportunity to earn extra money due to overtime; nicest people were legal assistants and secretaries.

    Cons

Pressure cooker, stressful work environment; obnoxious, rude, pompous attorneys who don't appreciate staff; caste system very much in place between attorneys and staff.

    Advice to Management

Much improvement needed; however, things will never change here, as nonsense continues to go on that occurred long ago. Anger management and behavioral classes would benefit attorneys.

    Pros

Interesting work with a well-recognized firm. In DC the work environment is not as much of a grind as some other firms; collaborative and friendly, especially as deadlines approach.

    Cons

Like many firms, your co-workers are not technically your bosses. This difference between management and colleagues is extremely annoying and counter-productive.

    Advice to Management

Lawyers and legal assistants do not need an intermediate layer of management from people not associated with the group. Otherwise, the work is interesting and feels productive.
