I worked at Siemens Corp as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The scientists are extremely talented. Great people, people are nice and friendly. Good work-life balance. Quite a few social events were organized.

    Cons

Benefits package and compensation was not very good. Research is more towards application/products and short-term. Need to give better computers to interns. No free food.

    Pros

Good pay, benefits. Senior Management met often with employees keeping them engaged what was coming up.

    Cons

Throwing people and other departments 'under the bus' was frequent. Some people have been there too long and need attitude adjustments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instill more of a team environment and do not put up with bashing other departments. Maybe bring in some consultants to help with people skills and team building.

I worked at Siemens Corp as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The facility was very clean. The employees were very friendly. It was a very rewarding experience to work for a company like Siemens.

    Cons

The challenges were the learning curves which made the job very interesting and rewarding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not deny former employees a second chance to work for Siemens.
Sometime we let simple things deny us great opprtunities. Once we step back and reassess
the oportunity after some time has passed we then realize the mistake we made

I have been working at Siemens Corp full-time

    Pros

Some positions are involved in cutting edge industries.
    Benefits are excellent.
Layoffs are very rare, getting fired is extremely rare.
Little is expected, you can spend part of the day working on side jobs. Some have done little for more than a decade.
Lots of free time for self-training.
    Some people have home offices.
Some people have flexible work schedules.

    Cons

    Pin-headed accountants make business decisions.
Some managers will screw customers as much as possible.
A UAW jobs bank would be a process improvement. Some employees are void of ability and personality but never get moved from "Show no work" to "No show no work".
Managers say they won't fire people because the position will not get refilled, or if it does, it will be with a hack consultant who is probably an illegal alien.
Employees have to work with hack illegal alien consultants from companies owned by the family of management.
Management utilizes glassdoor for employee surveys.
Outsiders make fun of the outdated equipment Siemens gives their employees to use.
A lot of software is pirated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let accountants make business decisions.
Fire at least 5% of employees annually.
Allow positions of fired employees to be refilled with employees.
Fire unproductive employees and their manager, and the manager's manager.
    Don't hire illegal aliens.
Fire managers that utilize illegal aliens and the manager's manager.
Let a consulting company hire new employees, managers at Siemens are very insecure and will not hire the best applicant.
Don't utilize consultant companies that are owned by the family of Siemens employees. Or at a minimum, let non-family owned companies compete for business.

    Pros

If you have a competent management (which includes Directors) it's a great experience, however, there are some horrible managers and there is no recourse for their bad treatment/behavior.

    Cons

f you have a competent management (which includes Directors) it's a great experience, however, there are some horrible managers there and there is no recourse for their bad treatment/behavior.
Human Resource will do absolutely nothing for you.
Amazed how bad their technology and data integrity was-a lot of manual work with complex analyses.
Lack of processes, procedures and communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen and value your employees-don't treat them like crap!!

I worked at Siemens Corp as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I had great experience with Siemens Corporate Research (SCR). SCR mostly works as an internal branch, meaning it develops solutions for other branches of the company. The researchers are exposed to a variety of current and future problems.

    Cons

The only possible con that I can think of is that Siemens compensation & benefits are a little bit lower compared to other similar companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think management was extremely good in terms of educating and motivating the employees.
