OK place to work

Project Engineer III (Current Employee)
Charlotte, NC

I have been working at Siemens Energy full-time for more than a year

ProsLaid back culture, Diversity, ok pay, helps if you have a German surname..

ConsManagement silos, redundancy, process oriented (hindrance at times), laid back, no sense of urgency.. Managers don't move around or take up new challenges - stay in a single position - no room for growth for lower level employees unless they move to a different organization. This is prevalent in Orlando..

Advice to Senior ManagementManagers have to be leaders, currently they aren't setting a good example!

Great, stable, progressive place to work.

Mechanical Engineer (Current Employee)
Charlotte, NC

I have been working at Siemens Energy

ProsStable industry
Company has a good reputation
The pay is very good
Starting vacation is very good compared with other companies
Young energetic workforce combined with seasoned and experience employees

ConsAt times extremely busy
Can be a high stress work environment
50+ hour work weeks are not uncommon (but salaried employees are paid straight time)

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a more direct link between bonuses and profits. Continue to encourage exploration of new technologies and processes. Let engineering drive decisions instead of accounting.

The company is a mult-billion dollar company; however, the company is very disorganized.

Administrative Assistant (Current Employee)
Charlotte, NC

I have been working at Siemens Energy

ProsCompany pays its employees well and provides them with essentials needed to get the job done some of the time.

ConsCompany is disorganized and the training is not very helpful. The motto around here is " The Siemens way is to learn it on your own". Not a good motto to me.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay close attention and when your employees needs advice or information on how to get something done, then take time out to help.

Good pay, lousy hours.

Design Engineer (Current Employee)
Charlotte, NC

I have been working at Siemens Energy

ProsThe compensation and benefits are very good. The people at my facility embrace team work.

ConsThe work life balance at our facility is given no attention. I know this not to be true at other locations. It seems as if little regard is given when employees are asked to make sacrifices with regard to their personal life.

Goals are set for divisions/departments without any clear guidelines on how to achieve them.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen asking employees to go above and beyond the call of duty, recognize or acknowledge them for that effort rather than taking it for granted.
