I have been working at Siemens Energy full-time

    Pros

Private office, coworkers, daily challenges, variety of tasks, benefits

    Cons

Management changed three times in three years. One would be very by the book and the next would be all over the place, inconsistent directions

I worked at Siemens Energy as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Worked in the operations management department in houston tx. Very friendly people, some office politics as usual. Pretty diverse ethnically in non engineering roles. Difficult projects given right off the bat/ really encourages professional growth. Choose your own work schedule within reason. No one watching what time you come in, etc. Recent graduate engineers put into middle management role immediately.

    Cons

Not a clear picture on how to get full time position after internship. Older senior management against working from home, while younger managers don't mind as long as job is done. Good work/life in office only. Technicians work hard hours with strenuous physical labour and not always the right tools they need. Pay is around 10% below market. Upper management doesn't really DO anything per se, except grind out work from lower employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give interns a clear understanding to full time position opportunities

    Pros

Many good people who are willing to help you learn and are always learning themselves. Great diverse culture.

    Cons

Understaffing and poor management planning affect those below. A culture of blame can develop when a few do the work of many and others coast along.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Plan for the future! Don't depend on fire fighting to get your bonus!

    Pros

    Cons

No bonus below management, lots of politics, the corporate culture is on of "Every man for themselves" instead of collaboration, afraid of change, worst benefits package I've ever received, HR department is corrupt and will say or do anything to get their way

I worked at Siemens Energy full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The management and engineering teams are talented and diverse. The environment is professionally stimulating. Diversity was apparent at all levels of the organization. A premium is placed on delivering reliability and performance in our product and customer experience. Great benefits. Well resourced company. An annual Technician's Conference is held in 3 regions of the US (focusing on training, company strategy, and sharing of ideas)!

    Cons

Aligning the Siemens Wind (formerly Bonus Energy) way of doing business with the Siemens corporate way is challenging. My work site was hours away from my home in NW Washington State (not a criticism of the company, but I share this information because this was the only reason I chose to leave Siemens).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Siemens Energy full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Location (close to Galleria and major freeways). Not much else to say that is good. Base salary is high because it is the Oil & Gas Industry

    Cons

Terrible benefits, no bonus structure for non-managers, upper management has no control over what middle management is doing and what they are doing is running the company into the ground.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the reigns, run out the managers who are unwilling to change and get your business in order.
