Excellent opportunity to start your career and grow as an engineer

    Engineering (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsMany good people who are willing to help you learn and are always learning themselves. Great diverse culture.

ConsUnderstaffing and poor management planning affect those below. A culture of blame can develop when a few do the work of many and others coast along.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlan for the future! Don't depend on fire fighting to get your bonus!

Don't expect to be treated as a valued employee

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsHigh base salary, lots of cake

ConsNo bonus below management, lots of politics, the corporate culture is on of "Every man for themselves" instead of collaboration, afraid of change, worst benefits package I've ever received, HR department is corrupt and will say or do anything to get their way

Advice to Senior Managementnone - i'd rather see your company fail

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Challenging and professionally stimulating company to work for.

    Manager (Former Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsThe management and engineering teams are talented and diverse. The environment is professionally stimulating. Diversity was apparent at all levels of the organization. A premium is placed on delivering reliability and performance in our product and customer experience. Great benefits. Well resourced company. An annual Technician's Conference is held in 3 regions of the US (focusing on training, company strategy, and sharing of ideas)!

ConsAligning the Siemens Wind (formerly Bonus Energy) way of doing business with the Siemens corporate way is challenging. My work site was hours away from my home in NW Washington State (not a criticism of the company, but I share this information because this was the only reason I chose to leave Siemens).

    Advice to Senior ManagementNone.

    Company refuses to move forward

    Quality Assurance (Former Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsLocation (close to Galleria and major freeways). Not much else to say that is good. Base salary is high because it is the Oil & Gas Industry

ConsTerrible benefits, no bonus structure for non-managers, upper management has no control over what middle management is doing and what they are doing is running the company into the ground.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the reigns, run out the managers who are unwilling to change and get your business in order.

    Micro-management and German hierarchy

    Business Developer (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsIf you get a hang of going around the rules, Siemens can be a great company to work for. But to get that far, you need to have started in Germany or another country. Once you are part of an inner circle, you can have an easy political career.

ConsThe germans love rules and make more of them everyday, and we Americans are too obsessed with following every rule, and miss out on seeing the bigger picture. The US Energy organization is micro-managed and performance is rarely rewarded. A number of smart people are leaving, but that has not affected the management's ways of doing things. Towing the political line is rewarded, the business success is only secondary.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease ask yourselves - is Siemens an Oil and Gas solutions player? If so, start behaving like GE, ABB, Cameron. If not, please focus only on selling products (Gas turbines) imported from Germany/UK. Also, please treat employees with respect. Good people who work at Siemens can any time get hired by a competitor for a whole lot more.

    Would not recommend Oil/Gas division

    Business Process Engineer (Former Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsThere was a lot of travel and development

    ConsDid not provide growth opportunities

Advice to Senior ManagementThe highest up managers need to realize that the bottom management is terrible and ineffective.
