Dying business, panicking employees, a very political environment.

Software Test Engineer (Former Employee) Arlington, TX

ProsGovernment client, which gives a false comfort of stability.

ConsWhile Siemens in general is a great company, this division is really struggling to get business, and has laid off people massively starting in 2008. Because of the repeated layoffs, the employees at the company are very defensive and anxious, and even afraid to share information to ensure job security.

Advice to Senior ManagementSome of the managers have been promoted from blue collar jobs, so they lack the professionalism for dealing with white collar employees. The senior leadership is rarely seen except at all-hands meetings.Mid management is fierce and uncompromising, with little focus on employee development.

    Procurement (Former Employee) DFW, TX

ProsGood working environment. Above average Salary. Great Benefits. Fantastic coworkers

ConsThe company is too big to share internal information with different business units. Siemens have been growing thru buying small companies, which makes information sharing very challenging. Standardization of processes and procedures is slow.

    Good working environment

Engineer (Current Employee) West Chicago, IL

ProsFlexible schedule. They will let you take classes and will not stop you from getting an MBA/MS for advancement. You can ask most people for help and almost everyone is kind and helpful. Siemens hires people for their talent and skills. I have seen other places where management hires employees based on their personal appearances. Here, they expect to get work done.

ConsThe work environment is sometimes little stressful. Employees are scared of making mistakes. Independent projects.
