Pros
Room to take on new responsibilities, work with many different employees within the organization, able to learn and take web-based classes
Cons
The company positioned this division to be sold so the possibility to be laid off were much higher than in other companies
Advice to Senior Management
The on-line communication within the division was very good and informative but should perhaps have been updated on a more regular basis
Pros
- Very diverse group of people with many different skills and cultural insights on things;
- Good benefits and work-life balance;
- Great cohesion within groups and projects.
Cons
- Upper management often seen as distant/aloof;
- Processes were slow to implement.
Advice to Senior Management
Please consider giving employees more opportunities to further their education and/or move to other divisions of such a great company.
Pros
Compensation is average and benefits are excellent. Direct managers are very accommodating to maintain a good work-life balance and try to work w/their reports feedback. If you put in the work, and know what you're doing, you'll be acknowledged and rewarded for it.
Cons
Communication. The title above describes it, we spend a lot of time re-inventing the wheel or trying to convince upper management that what looks good on an XLS is not the best solution for us or our customer. Upper management 'thinks' they are doing better, but people just ignore the BS, try to do their job rather than beat that dead horse. John Evers doesn't seem to care what his people could tell him about ways to improve the business. Sometimes, it's just way to political to bother pulling their heads out.
Advice to Senior Management
Put the bean counters in their room, shut the door and take a walk amongst your employees. Talk to a few w/o the manager's hovering nearby and get the skinny on our real problems of delivering.
Pros
Flexibility, Learning, Lesser protocol, better flow of communication
Cons
Not process oriented, not focussed towards higher volume
Advice to Senior Management
Time to leap towards the next league
Pros
Friendly working environment, Good people
Cons
low salary, less opportunity to grow your career
Pros
They have solid medical benefits, and they weren't big on micro-management. I got to go to work and put in my time without even seeing them much, other than their name on the checks.
Cons
What were supposed to have been monthly 1 on 1 check ins turned into once every six months, if that, and they would last for maybe five minutes. My responsibilities and duties increased, but without a change in title or increase in pay.
Advice to Senior Management
When someone's job responsibilities increase, even if the company isn't willing to increase they pay they receive, you need to take slightly less of your 40% profit from them. The same when a pay cut comes down, you should probably eat that since you're a vulture feasting on the corpse of actual workers anyway.
Pros
- great engineering & industrial strength
- good strategic leadership
Cons
- weak compensation
- weak consulting competencies
Advice to Senior Management
none at the moment
Pros
Had a great manager to learn from
Cons
No flexibility
No hikes
No good bonuses
Very strict
Advice to Senior Management
No advice
Pros
Vacation and benefits are good
Cons
Dismayed at how accounts are handled.
Little room for career growth.
Too much useless management
Advice to Senior Management
My advice to any IT company, numbers are a bad indication of employee performance. Consider quality, not quantity. Don't just run a report, talk to your employees.
Pros
Work is good, good room for growth. You are shown tremendous respect for what you do.
Cons
The compensation is not up to standard when you move up internally.
