Progressively waning motivation

Quality Engineer (Former Employee)
Orlando, FL

I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGreat benefits, co-workers are for the most part good people, pay is fair.

ConsManagement can often be clueless with regard to actions that need to be taken. Opportunities are not plentiful and motivation (depending on department) is rather lacking.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore interaction with subordinates, more motivation (not only via monetary means), more dynamism and incentives. A program to help your team members advance upward would also be beneficial, a sincere wish to see them rise instead of stagnate, as stagnation brings about a decrease in performance.

I have been working at Siemens full-time for more than 10 years

ProsSize of the company.
International exposure.
Some of the products the company offer are top quality/performance.

ConsManagement is too centralized. No clear career path.
Very week and pro company HR department.
Profitability is coming due to salary/bonus reduction.
Very negative internal moral.
Many good people leaving the company due to low salary/compensation/relationship with senior management.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange and evolve. The new world does not allow micro management anymore.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

No growth or training for employees. You have to brown nose to get anywhere. HR says leave the company for growth!!

Human Resources Services (Current Employee)
Orlando, FL

I have been working at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

ProsStable company. Clean work environment. Fair compensation.

ConsManagement is not responsible and does not take ownership. You have to be related to them or their drinking buddy to get ahead. No training to grow within the company. The Management acts as if they care only during the time when survey's are conducted.
Upper management turns a blind eye towards this and when HR is addressed in regards to promotion and growth they say we have to look outside Siemens and come back.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake ownership and work like it is a career. Train and identify talent to be the next manager within Siemens.

Global Corporation with limitless potential.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Orlando, FL

I have been working at Siemens full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat overall work environment. Overall great networking opportunities and excellent overall collaborative effort with some of the most talented colleagues in the world.

ConsSome of the down sides is the classic corporate structure and its dense corporate politics that heavily weight down efficiency and progression.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy advice to upper management is to start retiring and make way for more the next generation of forward thinking managers and leaders in the company's future.

Great Corporate Culture

Business Development Associate (Current Employee)
Orlando, FL

I have been working at Siemens

ProsSiemens is a great company to work for and has a great corporate culture. However, if you have very high standards or are a really driven person, it is a little frutstrating. Most employees are career employees and very resistant to change.

ConsMost middle management is not skilled to be managers. Their knowledge base is very limited & their leadership skills are undeveloped. Leaders are born, not made.

Advice to Senior ManagementRecommend hiring competent talent from outside the company or from different Siemens sector. Because we keep recycling the same talent through the company, shifting from position to position, we are really limiting our growth.

Overall a great place to work!

I have been working at Siemens

ProsSiemens is a huge company and therefore provides almost unlimited opportunities for career development and for promotion / advancement.

ConsWhile there are huge opportunities for advancement due to the sheer size of the company, obtaining some of the opportunities requires a LOT of effort and willingness to put in huge amounts of hours to get noticed by someone at or above a certain level. While the top and top- middle management, and especially HR, certainly espouse the merit based pay system, continuous feedback, performance process, and high performance culture, the reality is that the day to day line managers aren't getting the message, and often recognize seniority and experience over performance, talent, and potential.
