I have been working at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Lots of opportunity, challenging, local leadership engaged, able to have input on career, solid company trying to focus on employees and customers.

    Cons

large company with many layers, changes structure a lot, Corporate not always in tuned to the people on the ground. Sometimes numbers driven and does not see the big picture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to keep employee morale in mind with all the changes. Do not sacrfice long term for short term success. Test new ideas before inititating big changes to make sure works.

I have been working at Siemens full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Size of the company.
    International exposure.
Some of the products the company offer are top quality/performance.

    Cons

Management is too centralized. No clear career path.
Very week and pro company HR department.
Profitability is coming due to salary/bonus reduction.
    Very negative internal moral.
Many good people leaving the company due to low salary/compensation/relationship with senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change and evolve. The new world does not allow micro management anymore.

I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits, co-workers are for the most part good people, pay is fair.

    Cons

Management can often be clueless with regard to actions that need to be taken. Opportunities are not plentiful and motivation (depending on department) is rather lacking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More interaction with subordinates, more motivation (not only via monetary means), more dynamism and incentives. A program to help your team members advance upward would also be beneficial, a sincere wish to see them rise instead of stagnate, as stagnation brings about a decrease in performance.

I have been working at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Stable company. Clean work environment. Fair compensation.

    Cons

Management is not responsible and does not take ownership. You have to be related to them or their drinking buddy to get ahead. No training to grow within the company. The Management acts as if they care only during the time when survey's are conducted.
Upper management turns a blind eye towards this and when HR is addressed in regards to promotion and growth they say we have to look outside Siemens and come back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take ownership and work like it is a career. Train and identify talent to be the next manager within Siemens.

I have been working at Siemens full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great overall work environment. Overall great networking opportunities and excellent overall collaborative effort with some of the most talented colleagues in the world.

    Cons

Some of the down sides is the classic corporate structure and its dense corporate politics that heavily weight down efficiency and progression.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to upper management is to start retiring and make way for more the next generation of forward thinking managers and leaders in the company's future.

I have been working at Siemens

    Pros

Siemens is a great company to work for and has a great corporate culture. However, if you have very high standards or are a really driven person, it is a little frutstrating. Most employees are career employees and very resistant to change.

    Cons

Most middle management is not skilled to be managers. Their knowledge base is very limited & their leadership skills are undeveloped. Leaders are born, not made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recommend hiring competent talent from outside the company or from different Siemens sector. Because we keep recycling the same talent through the company, shifting from position to position, we are really limiting our growth.
