    Pros

Siemens has plenty of job security. Siemens is a very credible company that will look excellent on your resume. They also foster a good work environment where everyone is professional and courteous.

    Cons

The company structure makes it impossible to quickly advance. They don't pay as well as some smaller companies. Company could put more of an emphasis on training employees.

    Advice to Management

Have your team engage in group activities that promote learning from each other. Find ways to motivate your team to keep older (which most of them are) engineers engaged and motivated. Give your employees commendation and gratitude when they excel at an important task.

    Pros

Good work/life balance with flexibility. Diverse career paths with challenging and interesting projects. Great people and teams. Great travel opportunities. Good first line management.

    Cons

Politics, overhead, too many dysfunctional internal processes. Constant upper/senior management turnover with lack of long term focus. Innovation and thinking out of the box constantly crushed by over powerful accounting department. Lack of overall good company culture. Sometimes toxic US/German competition.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the customer, innovate, create a real ownership culture and replace all those unnecessary and over complicated internal processes that kill engineering productivity.

    Pros

Lots of opportunity, challenging, local leadership engaged, able to have input on career, solid company trying to focus on employees and customers.

    Cons

large company with many layers, changes structure a lot, Corporate not always in tuned to the people on the ground. Sometimes numbers driven and does not see the big picture.

    Advice to Management

Make sure to keep employee morale in mind with all the changes. Do not sacrfice long term for short term success. Test new ideas before inititating big changes to make sure works.

    Pros

    Size of the company.
    International exposure.
Some of the products the company offer are top quality/performance.

    Cons

Management is too centralized. No clear career path.
Very week and pro company HR department.
Profitability is coming due to salary/bonus reduction.
    Very negative internal moral.
Many good people leaving the company due to low salary/compensation/relationship with senior management.

    Advice to Management

Change and evolve. The new world does not allow micro management anymore.

    Pros

Great benefits, co-workers are for the most part good people, pay is fair.

    Cons

Management can often be clueless with regard to actions that need to be taken. Opportunities are not plentiful and motivation (depending on department) is rather lacking.

    Advice to Management

More interaction with subordinates, more motivation (not only via monetary means), more dynamism and incentives. A program to help your team members advance upward would also be beneficial, a sincere wish to see them rise instead of stagnate, as stagnation brings about a decrease in performance.
