I worked at Siemens USA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Depending on the office, there is good office atmosphere, friendly personnel. Pay is at the current rate, unlike other companies. On-line training is provided, as well as some site training.

    Cons

Job last only as long as there are projects available, training is minimal when the use of new or other software is required. Some people keep their knowledge for themselves, as job security. Sales people do minimum research on the products they sell, before they provide designers with the project information. and leave all research to be done by drafter/designers, which adds to time it takes to make a design.

    Advice to Management

Train sales people on equipment use and time required to produce a design, the need to make a quick sale makes them overlook design and equipment needs for the project. This shifts the cost from the Sales department to the Engineering department, making sales look good, while the engineering tends to "take too long", due to research, and changes made to original quote by sales.

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Stability of a large company backing it.

    Cons

Very bureaucratic and heavily policy driven, which made it difficult to get actual work done. The entire feel of the company (Landis & Staefa) changed dramatically when they were bought out by Siemens, who had no experience with the industry.

    Advice to Management

Ease up on the policies and procedures and ensure that they make sense for the industry before implementing.
