    Gym (Basic)
Interesting work, ability to research and improve your skills

    Cons

Training was a weak spot: We wound up reading manuals and spent a lot of time trying to figure things out ourselves or trying to re-invent the wheel

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Overall a positive experience, but more work on a consistent training program would help considerably

I have been working at Sierra Wireless full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The atmosphere at the Newark location is very close and employees here are very respectful and team oriented.

    Cons

The compensations and raises they give anually/yearly is way below the average market. As an employee working here for almost 5 years my total raise from my starting pay to what I earn now has been $0.75!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open to suggestions from all levels to help improve certain departments. Help appoint leads very all departments and motivate employees with better compensation and promotional opportunities.

Former Employee - Software Engineer in Richmond, BC (Canada)
Former Employee - Software Engineer in Richmond, BC (Canada)

I worked at Sierra Wireless as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Lots of freedom to direct the quality and features of an embedded software project. The management is demanding nonetheless and expects a high quality deliverable. Did not have to work exceedingly long hours.

    Cons

The company is always evolving its product focus to catch the next growth opportunity. Typically this is highly correlated with maximizing the stock price. Therefore changes such as job termination, or major change in project focus is expected. Also has led to lack of quality, accountability, or untested features as the project tasks are more narrowly focused.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work
