I have been working at Signature Health Care as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Cutting edge in bringing a revolutionary approach to long term care. Great ideas, and excellent pool of talent. CEO very invested in maintaining a standard of excellence. General policies are very complete and well reasoned.

    Cons

Not a major deterrent, but need to focus on greater guidance for new facilities, and more personal approach to education. Need to implement a growth plan due to vast expansion in multiple states with differing regulatory requirements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to grow and expand, exposing more individuals to the long term care revolution. Assure that you have a firm foundation to change ideas to reality.

I have been working at Signature Health Care full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The only reason for myself working at Signature is to help care for the residents.

    Cons

The head people do NOT care much of the employees nor the residents. The nurse are more concerned of passing medicines and holding conversations with other employees than actually tending and giving quality care to the residents. There is favoritism between supervisors and their employees and there a major complaints that the administrator looks over until enough people complain or bring it up in a meeting. There is no recognition to those that ACTUALLY work and are put on the chopping block. There is an ENORMOUS lack of communication between supervisors and employees. The quality of care is incredibly low. In my opinion, there are employees that are just there to carry on conversations and get a paycheck.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more commuication between supervisors and employees. When changes are made, that has to be EVERYONE'S responsibility to adhere to the changes. I believe that the head people(administrator, social services, DONs,ADONs, supervisors, etc)
Need to be more involved with the residents than in their offices or in the halls with other employees holding out of work conversations. If need be, there can be inservice meetings so everyone can renew their knowledge of their job, their duties, rule and regulations, and work ethics.

I worked at Signature Health Care full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    There are wound care nurses.

    Cons

not enough staff to give appropriate care for the residents and pts. Very unorganized set up for failure for staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not able to spend time with the patient doing care, to busy passing all the meds, short staffed It is a set up for failure. Nurses cant take care of the patients like they should be do to always passing meds and with all the interuptions, too many residents/patients assigned, its not possible to do a decent job. For both LTCU and Skilled there should be two CMA on each hall way, meaning 4 CMA in the building both shifts, 1 RN for each unit each shift, a LPN for each unit each shift, a secretary for each unit day shift, RNs' to do assessments and make decisions do charting, care for the patients and families, an LPN to do treatments and pass Narcs, Blood glucoses and Insulins. LPN to do vitals every day on both LTCU and Skilled, a Full time secretary to answer phones. 4 CNA for each hall/unit daily and nightly and one full time bath aide during the day, and yes keep the admissions nurse. The supply room isn't run right either. Before anything is taken out of the room it needs to be written down on a single clip board, each item, stock number quantity and what pt its going to the sticker system isn't working, your loosing money.

I have been working at Signature Health Care

    Pros

A job that I have experience in and is located in the city where I live. Our specific facility have employees who are friendly and cooperate for the welfare of the nursing home residents. The residents make the job worthwhile and is the main reason I continue in my position.

    Cons

Emphasis on profit even though their goal is the well-being of the elderly. Too much paperwork required to satisfy the State Inspectors. The facility is only about 7 feet above sealevel and always at risk for Hurricane damage. We have had to evacuate 4 times in the past four years, which is stressful for staff and residents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to keep listening to the employees since they are on the front line and have a better idea what is best for the residents.

I worked at Signature Health Care

    Pros

The residents make all healthcare positions worthwhile. The on the ground facility level teams work very hard and often give more than they ever expect in return. Don't think, the Corporate office VPs and CEO know just how hard the facility teams work and often the most dedicated people are very much unappreciated.

    Cons

Signature used to be a more loyal company to it's stakeholders but recently and with growth, I think the CEO has become greedy. Often the Administrator and Director of Nursing are expected to perform miracles and the root cause of problems overlooked. For example, facilities are expected to run at full capacity even when there is a lack of corporate business development strategy. People who have worked for years as loyal stakeholders have been let go without warning which goes against everything the CEO says Signature is about. It's no longer personal there. People make huge contributions for years to the company but are let go without a word of thanks. The CEO boasts he's friends with all levels and knows every Administrator/DON personally, but this is an HR strategy used to look genuine. You won't hear from him when you're being laid off or let go after many years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People see through the lack of genuine concern. Also, if a stakeholder has been with you for years and has no prior warning, is there not another position or dept they could have a go at? The facility level teams do all of the hard work and dedicate their lives to taking care of those in need (often times includes loved ones of corp office staff)... Corp office should think about a stakeholders entire contribution not just census and profits. If corp office can't find ways to help facility leaders be more profitable, why would they feel those leaders can be the end all, be all?

I have been working at Signature Health Care

    Pros

Very caring employees, great learning opportunities, good teamwork. The leadership is interested and willing to try out new ideas, very entrepreneurial.

    Cons

Politics can run high at the upper levels, the spirituality there is supposed to be unbiased, but it isn't always that way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your staff who are in the mix of things, they have a lot to say but don't always get heard.
