Terrible management, tumbling margins, lost customers

Senior Director (Former Employee) Fremont, CA

ProsThey had some very nice golf caps and shirts. Other than that the company is essentially dead men walking

ConsFrom the CEO to the VP of Sales, these individuals have absolutely no clue on running a company and have proven this quarter over quarter. This is one of the most dysfunctional companies a person could work for. They are slowly losing market-share, customers and employees and will eventually go bankrupt (Again). Third time's a charm

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit. You have no clue with what it takes to run a publically run corporation and am sure the shareholders and VC people will kick you to the curb anyway

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

SGI was the best place I ever worked.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Fremont, CA

ProsInnovative company with very talented engineering team. The company is not as innovative as it once was, but still has good memory system architecture.

ConsManagement made poor decisions during the late 1990's that hurt the company for the next decade. It remains to be seen if a turnaround can be achieved after the acquisition by Rackable.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep the engineering team challenged with new innovations. Avoid commodity technology. Focus on memory system technology and large scale data processing.
