Former Employee – worked at Silverado Hospice full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – San Diego has pretty weather...?
Cons – Revolving door. Punitive enviornment. If a family is grieving and complains EVERYONE present is blamed. No recognition for a job well done. Your job may disappear and you will never know what happened. Some people are not paid a living wage (yes, even nurses).
Advice to Senior Management – Really consider removing current management and replace with appropriate and positive management who dont have their own array of serious emotional and behavioral problems.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Silverado Hospice
Pros – Working with geriatric residents and patients with dementia
Cons – Unrealistic expectations regarding assignments of patients. Not taking into consideration territory and mileage. Changing of job requirements 3 weeks into new job. High volume turn over of staff. Most nurses stay 1-3 months before resigning.
Advice to Senior Management – Negative comments do not cause for positive outcomes. Staff need to be managed up.. not down. Do not treat your staff like remedial employees. To get respect, one must give it. Be profesional, be realistic, be supportive. All of these things SH is not.
