    I worked at Simba Technologies

    Pros

You'll likely work on interesting problems and the interview process is designed so that smart people get hired as engineers.

    Cons

Lots of politics especially from old timers, poor teamwork and management. The existing framework of management has too much power in the company and likes to keep its power.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Allow engineers to review managers.

I worked at Simba Technologies as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Got the job at Simba through my school's co-op program and was happy with the experience. Most people are friendly, and the team was small enough that I had chances to do some things above my experience level.

It's a growing company, and like any growing company they need engineers. There could be opportunities for new grads to do more interesting things than endless testing for SAP or a similar large company.

    Cons

Growing pains as new employees are being added rapidly. Software development process is becoming more formal, so new co-ops might get less opportunity to stretch themselves (and do more testing instead).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it up! The owner is hungry to grow the company, which benefits everyone.

    Pros

The people at Simba are generally a great group to be around. The company is in a position to grow for the foreseeable future. Ownership and Autonomy are highly valued.

    Cons

While Simba's compensation is reasonable, they do start employees with minimal vacation. The rapid growth has come with a number of challenges that will probably take a while to settle down.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay the course, the malcontents will eventually find other opportunities and leave.

    Pros

Company is growing quite well. Last year grew 30% and hit all targets. Social committee does a good job organizing christmas party, picnic, bbqs, sun run, grand fondo, archery, pumpkin carving, easter egg hunt, yoga, sushi lunch. Kudos to social committee and thank you to company to pay for this. Company hires lots of coops and juniors and gives lots of opportunities. Lots of career opportinities. Doing lots in big data and great customers like Microsoft, Teardata, SAP, Intel, Cloudera, Oracle. Cool that Microsoft replaced their big data odbc driver with Simba. thanks for the free pizza but maybe change it up a bit. Teched was good need more of these. More social events like company ski trip coming up thanks again social committee. Company is generous with anniversary presents every year for everyone. monthly company meeting is a good source of information would be good to get notes when I miss one

    Cons

A few bad apples seem to complain here. If its so bad why don't you leave. free food at company meeting is always pizza. company policies need to be updated

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing the good work. Some of us really appreicate it. thanks

I have been working at Simba Technologies full-time

    Pros

Office is located in a decent part of the city.

    Cons

Technology is archaic and they are not interested in modernizing anything. The justification is always that this is how things have been done in the past and therefore it must be the best way to keep doing them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management's area of expertisefrom an actual engineering standpoint is limited mostly to database domain only and thus they are extremely limited in the experience in the software industry they can draw on.

I have been working at Simba Technologies full-time

    Pros

    - peers are, for the most part, generally friendly, helpful, and great to work with
    - challenging but interesting work
    - depending on the team you are in, there is great opportunity to learn and grow
    - standards and processes are getting better
    - good-natured development managers

    Cons

    - very few benefits, below average salary
    - no banking of overtime hours and no overtime pay
    - awkward monthly meetings
    - credit not always given where credit is due
    - bad decisions every now and then that cause results undesirable to everyone as a whole

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Be honest; some generosity and caring can go a long way
