I have been working at Sime Darby part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good non monetary benefits for permanent employees. Departments vary in terms of work environment and work-life balance. There are 21 floors each with different departments. You can and will gain a lot of exposure if you speak to the right people so it is up to you to seek for help or else you will fall into the hole of not progressing. The culture here truly is, if you want to improve, they will help but you must find the right people. HR was very accomodating to help me find more challenging projects. My team leader was a very good communicator to ensure that the workflow is smooth for everyone.

There are many ways to gain more exposure like the Management Apprentice Programme.

Easy commute, Monorail link and bus stop 2 minutes away. Lots of restaurants around for lunch.

    Cons

Not everyone will be as supportive of your ideas or your ambition for personal growth and development. The department I worked at, a lot of the work was repetitive which is fine if you like it. It did have its own particular challenges. Although HR helped, Head Supervisor of my department was quite unhelpful.

Ideas are not discussed in how to improve processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are very talented, hardworking employees here at your other departments whose potential are not being realised because of your middle management. Their personal growth is crucial to Sime Darbys growth as a whole. There are many ways to tighten the processes at your services centre to speed up payments and invoices.
