Pros
Well, the TA job paid for medical and dental benefits and covered my tuition :). So, overall its all good
Cons
Paper correction, labs , undergraduate woes, professor pressure, the usual stuff that a TA has to go through. Not much of a problem at all.
Advice to Senior Management
Well, the TA job paid for medical and dental benefits and covered my tuition :). So, overall its all good
Pros
As a co-op student within the school, they know you're there to learn just as much as you are to work. They're very understanding of your needs and what you need to get from this job to succeed in others. My department was extremely good in this regard. I even got to help in the hiring process for my replacement to get a feel for what it's like on the other side of the table.
You are treated like a regular employee at this job. No fetching coffee whatsoever.
Cons
You're still in a school environment which may make it harder for you to get out of that frame of mind when working.
Advice to Senior Management
Inter-department communication needs to increase. The departments are all very friendly within each other, but the politics between different departments can hold back developments.
Pros
it's in vancouver, great city to live in
Cons
depends on supervisor, make sure you choose one that's competent
Advice to Senior Management
provide better support for supervision
Pros
- great benefits package
- good pay (unionized)
Cons
- minimal career advancement
- inefficient processes
Advice to Senior Management
get rid of unions.
