    Pros

You receive training on unique equipment; CNC and Robotic Cutters. Decent pay for the industry, plus insurance and a retirement plan. There also is an opportunity to further your education.

    Cons

Not all associates are offered a chance for personal growth. It all depends who is assessing you. Some office personnel feel they are above you. The expectations between the shifts are not standard and uniform.

    Advice to Management

Understand the process before you try to change it. When posting a position and stating the qualifications, hire only qualified individuals.

    Pros

A great company to work for! I love going into work everyday. My boss is great and so are all of the managers there and at cooperate.

    Cons

There is not much to complain about with simonton. Everyone is friendly, and willing to listen to any problems that might occur.

    Advice to Management

    Know your associates better

    Pros

Great work/life balance for most things. You usually know in advance when long hours are required (e.g. - month end). CEO and other executives are approachable.

    Cons

Not as much opportunity for advancement in Simonton itself. Potential to advance within a sister company but that involves moving. Not as much time off as prior employment.

  8. Under-paid, under-valued, no possibilty for advancement

    Pros

Worked with decent people. Thats pretty much it, im typing this to reach the twenty word minimum. Ive heard it was better before fortune brands bought the company.

    Cons

The workload is out of control for the pay. New bonus structure allows bonuses to be adjusted by managers, which allows management to punish workers they don't "like". Steer clear of this company if you're just starting your career; the pay will be easily beaten by any company in columbus. If you want zero accountability and you want to coast until retirement, simonton is for you.

    Advice to Management

Recognize who adds value and act accordingly. Also, recognize who does NOT add value and again, act accordingly.

    Pros

Not bad pay for the area

    Cons

Supervisor doesn't treat employees with the same set of rules

    Advice to Management

Employees should have the same set of rules to follow, Smokers should not get more paid breaks than the non-smokers. Non-smokers don't get 3 breaks before lunch and 2 after lunch like the smokers do. We all shuld be treated equal. Group leaders should have to do more work, some of them work and some of them stand around eating and drinking , talking to their friend.

My position was eliminated due to budget cuts but without this company I would not have my Master's Degree or a 401K.

    Pros

It was a fast growing company that I helped grow, until the last five years. Then market crashed .

    Cons

It's was hard to lost a job that you thought you was going to retire at.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the people that take care of your work loads and makes the company look good in the industry.
