    Pros

From colleagues to friends. Good team work.

    Cons

Poor recognition of staff good work. No ownership. Not much off communication between higher management and staff.

    Advice to Management

Please rate your staff as per job well done and recognition wisely.

    Pros

Good work life balance, will get to see big infrastructure upgrades, handle clusters of servers.

    Cons

Like all big companies, there are bureaucracies and processes, double edged sword.

    Advice to Management

SingTel is a technology company, not an event company, less pointless rebranding and better service delivery.

    Pros

Good staff benefits such as discounted mobile phone monthly subscriptions and free office phone line (with a not-so-good free handset. I got an Nokia slide phone model). If working at Somerset area, staff canteen offers cheap and a good range of food variety. There is also a gym and free medical coverage. I also had the privilege of very good team mates. Overall atmosphere across departments is that people generally do help and respond to one another.

    Cons

Salary range is low. Recent HR scheme to adjust payout did not do much to raise the overall average remuneration. As all companies are, your "fate" is largely decided by your immediate Manager. Mine was alright, trusting towards me, however, for what really matters such as pay scheme wise, there is little they can do to help raise this. Promotions are incredibly slow (noted an executive promoting to senior executive having stayed there for 5 years, and in another case, an executive of 6 years was not even offered a promotion). I personally feel that it is not a good place to stay for long at entry level. Considering that promotions are hard to come by, you may see your peers in other industries earning much more substantial amounts very quickly.

    Advice to Management

Understood that pay range within the telco industry is as such. However, if people can find a higher pay for a similar job scope, there's no surprise that people do not stay on. But then again, the middle management does not seem to actively attempt to retain talents. Not from what I've seen at least.

    Pros

Good Benefits, Great People, A lot of opportunities

    Cons

Red Tape, used to be a stat board so a lot of traditions have been inherited which might not work in today's business context.

    Advice to Management

    Update business culture

  6. Comfortable and can be rewarding with the right people, but slow progress for most employees.

    Pros

Good brand, one of Singapore's largest and most well known companies, good work-life balance (dependent on team leadership). Easy to carve out a niche for yourself in this huge organization.

    Cons

Conservative and slow business. Not the place to work if you're looking to do something that's really creative or innovative.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who are better, faster and more creative than you are. Encourage creativity, and autonomy in product development.

    Pros

Good for exposure into telco offering, minimal politics

    Cons

Limited learning ground, management just pushes numbers

    Advice to Management

Know the ground issues and tackle them instead of planning from the ivory tower

    Pros

Fun people around, very good family culture in the call centre

    Cons

Career progression too slow. Must would say call centre is a place where its "dirty job" where no one wanna work in.

    Advice to Management

Give more recognition to front line employees
