Amazing company, terrible work

Inside Sales (Former Employee)
Scottsdale, AZ

I worked at SkillSoft full-time for more than a year

ProsAwesome people, benefits, competitive pay

ConsInside sales is about as cold as you can get. If you do not want to just be given basically a phone book and some general info about companies and told to go get business, then this job isn't for you. It's ice froze cold calling, and a very long sales cycle.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Nashua, NH

I have been working at SkillSoft full-time for more than 8 years

ProsSalaries better than average, if only a little.

ConsLateral business hierarchy only a theory. Bullying tolerated. Unpaid overtime expected. Poor communication between departments that are supposed to be part of tr same team.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere's lots of power struggles between departments, and protecting of turf at the expense of projects as a whole. Get people together as a team and let them talk - not hide behind powerpoints and message boards.

Stable environment with room for growth

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Nashua, NH

I have been working at SkillSoft full-time for more than 3 years

ProsSkillsoft is known for their strong work-life balance where family time is important. There is a team environment in all departments. Also, there is low turnover. There is a saying around Skillsoft that once you make it past 6 months to a year, you tend to stay for life. Nearly all management has been with the company 10+ years. Additionally, there is room for advancement and promotions are typically from within.

ConsThe office could use some serious updating (i.e. newer cubicles, chairs, desks, lighting, etc.). The office looks like it is from the 1970's.

Advice to Senior ManagementNo advice to give. Management is responsive and supportive.
