    Pros

Benefits are great, as well as the opportunity to really make a difference for our customers.

    Cons

Constant threat of redundancies for departments caving in. Salary not all too great.

    Advice to Management

Conduct a salary review. I'm a manager and I make less than most.

    Pros

This place is good for starters and beginners. Free sky TV package is a plus. Charmers and sweet talkers can flourish in this muddy environment. Your work will be greatly appreciated by your manager(s) and repackaged as their original thought and work to senior managements. This showcase of work spirals all the way to the upper levels. Above all sympathy beggars can really raise the ladders of management quickly if you know how to have your manager in your pocket.

The company will survive because of the entertainment industry segment BSkyB is into.

    Cons

Forget about earning your place by hard-work. Forget about reasoning and non-partiality. Forget about gaining expertise for your work will be limited to run-of-the-mill type chores. Forget about individuality because as soon as you bring in some original thought, it will be plagiarised endlessly with no credit to you. Most managers are past their peaks and have nowhere else to go, so they are stuck. They will make sure you don't go anywhere also within BskyB.

Beware of the 'Technology' division that operates out of Scotland. Rampant favouritism is the key distinguisher of this unit. They rank low in the internal people survey scores. They will establish teams to listen to your problems. These teams are just there to listen to your rants if you bother to. A report will be produced out of these action meetings. A sub-team will be established to act on those findings. They will certainly 'act'. Nothing will change. You will be frustrated. The cycle will continue endlessly.

    Advice to Management

It's been a year in this company for me and I have a great lesson on how not to be good manager.

    Pros

This company has a market appeal of a good employer. Nice place to spend some nice time without any bother of career progression if that's your cup of tea.

    Cons

Outward appearances last only for a few months of joining this place. You will quickly start to realise the internal 'gangwars' and favouritism. 'Use and throw' should be BSkyb's motto. Even the seating arrangements are more suited for farm-house cattle than humans: so densely packed.

    Advice to Management

Clean-up the technology divison's management. They spend time talking about their own achievements during team briefings :(

    Pros

Fun people, excellent benefits. Some hard-working, intelligent people who cared.

    Cons

If your face fits, you will go far in this company. If you have a good manager then you are stored, but there are a lot of managers that have been there for years, part of the wood work and they don't know how to manage.

As a company, they fire fight, no strategic plan.

People were managed out there job, who should have been as they were good at there jobs.

    Pros

Peers were nice to work with...in the short time they were there!
    Free Sky Subscription
    Salary pretty good

    Cons

    Company Politics
    Inexperienced Management
    Contradictory messaging from management
Nepotism when employing / promoting people

    Advice to Management

Really consider who you employ at middle manager levels...do they have the experience/aptitude to manage people? Do they "Believe in better" or are they self serving?!
