I worked at Sky full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

good subsidy within canteen, and training opportunities are not below average

    Cons

Internally, change is cited as being rapid... it is actually extremely slow in relation to other companies. Head of and Junior Director positions are clogged up with those falling foul of peters principle leading to the same old ideas going round and round with very little innovation. Data and systems are poor, whilst progress is based on personality over results. The really odd financial year, and annually moving bonus period, is annoying and appears designed to pay as little as possible. Salary structure is unclear with no bandings across roles, and averages tend to fall below both industry, and national averages. Many people in positions are 55+ and terrified to innovate in case of 'rocking the boat'.. just sitting waiting for retirement, stifling ambition and opportunity for others. It is a good company as a first job, and will look good on a CV, but is struggling to compete.

    Advice to Management

'Do the right thing' - move over and let the competent through.

    Pros

Free Sky. Friendly culture. Fast paced. Celebs visiting the office. Lots of interesting high profile projects to work on. High exposure early on. Lots of responsibility and muck in culture.

    Cons

Location is remote which impacts the social culture. poor pay and bonus structure. Delivery and resource focus rather than focus on developing people.

    Pros

Great company to work for, with lots of opportunities to develop your carrier. Huge campus with on site restaurants, gym, buses. Free Sky TV and other perks/schemes.

    Cons

Usual big company politics, so your experience may be let down by the management you are under. Poor on site car parking.

I have been working at Sky full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Sky offers such amazing opportunities for their employees, from the little perks like having free Sky to amazing colleagues. There's always space for growth, and the managers are great. sky is a company that really cares for their employees so your opinion always matter.

    Cons

Other than having to stand on my feet for long hours there's no real cons about working for Sky Retail.

    Advice to Management

Just keep doing the amazing job you're doing (I really tried to think of something to say here, but this was all I could come up with?)

I have been working at Sky full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced environment - It's easy to make stuff happen if you try. You can have a real impact and results of your work are very measurable. The campus is unbelievable! 3 subsidised table service restaurants on site (one has a rooftop bar) and 2 canteens. New on site subsidised gym is better than normal gyms that you pay >£80/m for. Great cycle to work facilities. Huge company so you can do almost any job Development L&D website and courses are great. Great Brand - you feel proud to tell people it's where you work. You get free Sky & Internet. & Share benefits. Leadership and direction are good.

    Cons

Occasionally very short deadlines & stress (but you get that anywhere) Sometimes because of fast pace and nultiple stakeholders you have to draft work over and over again.

    Advice to Management

I'd love to see an organisation chart wiki. I.e. what are all the departments and teams within them. This would really help people looking at internal jobs.
