I have been working at Sky full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Sky is very competitive when it comes to salary and benefits. Being a strong personality is often rewarded. Sky is a very relationship based organisation, where you effectiveness is often dictated by your relationships with others versus a rigid structure. Most of the time, work-life balance can be achieved and there are often opportunities to grow beyond you specialist area if you seek them out.

    Cons

Sky can chew you up and spit you out if you let it. It can be very demanding and at times, if you are in a position of responsibility, it can be very stressful. Sometimes Sky can run afoul of big corporate culture and inefficiency, where there are 5 times as many people to do something than needed. Sometimes you can be shocked about how simple things can be difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Because it is such a relationship based organisation, sometimes there is a resistance to change, even when it is obvious that individuals aren't the right fit.

    I worked at Sky

    Pros

A positive and friendly working environment with the opportunity to work with, and learn from some of the best in the business. Sky encourage a competitive approach to working which drives staff to consistently produce the best work possible.

The opportunity to work on some high profile content and given the creative freedom to produce original and compelling TV. In an industry where people move around a lot, it's easy to see why people stay at Sky for years.

    Cons

As with any big company, politics play a large part. In such a creative industry, Sky sometimes struggle to take a meritocratic approach. A culture of nepotism is rife and promising talent is often overlooked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire top graduates from relevant university degrees who have a passion and drive to work in the industry.

I have been working at Sky

    Pros

Free SKY. even though when they do make you pay for any upgraded boxes or additional SKY equipment they update

    Cons

Rubbish managers who have had very little diversity training in any at all. Bullying managers who are protected to the hilt by HR.
CEL's who don't award you any pay rises if your face doesn't fit. I worked there 3 years and failed to get a single pay rise apart from the initial one upon completion of probationary period. This was despite consistently good CSAT scores!
Politics in the company is BAD!
I'm so glad to get out of there!
GOD help you if you have 3 separate single DAYS off work in a single year! You lose your Sky!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employ people who know about how to manage real people. Be fairer in assessing pay awards and not be so subjective.

    I worked at Sky

    Pros

Good benefits and the people are great to work with.

The company is constantly growing and evolving.

Highly recommend if you are trying for a job.

    Cons

Some times the hours are not flexible. Team Leaders can be constantly pushing and checking every minute.

But there isn't really anything to complain about.

    - Interesting work and some very talented people
    - pace of change provides some great challenges
