I have been working at SkyWest Airlines (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Flexible work schedules. Fun job. Great group of employees.

    Cons

Employee's not always held accountable. San Francisco cost-of-living is very high. Employee attendance can be challenging.

    Advice to Management

Automate the attendance points systems to take the middle man and excuses out of the system.

I worked at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment for airline industry newcomers. Fast pace, lots of learning every day, and because it's a smaller airline there is a sense of community.

    Cons

The pay is very low considering what other airlines pay. As a result the turn over rate is high, it's a good first step but i would stay any longer then two years.

    Advice to Management

A good aircraft mechanic is worth his weight in gold, find a way to make them want to stay, PAY THEM!!

I have been working at SkyWest Airlines full-time

    Pros

Awesome leadership, co-workers, and paid in-depth training. Best travel benefits in the business.

    Cons

The flight attendant pay is better than all other regional carriers but not comparable to major airlines. New hire employees are stuck on reserve which is the norm for a lot of airlines. However, in some hubs it means you can be on reserve for up to 3 yrs. Ouch.

    Advice to Management

Rotate reserve and increase starting pay to lower the turn over rate!

I worked at SkyWest Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Training lasted around 3 months. Good environment. All turned to crap once we hit the floor as management was there for the golf games and coffee while the supervisors were more about playing disciplinarian than anything else. If there was a problem, internally, with computers or software glitch...you were the cause. Employee was the problem, not the hardware or software. Bad mojo. Bad, bad, bad place to work. Co-workers were nice, for the most part but management--not so much.

    Cons

Management did nothing to fix problems encountered in the workplace. If you pointed out issues with computers or software you were targeted as a problem employee. My last day there we had a mandatory training session with the trainers. Every. Single. Problem. that I had attempted to point out, proactively, was repeated by my co-workers in what turned into a major venting session. I just shook my head and laughed. Felt sorry for their frustration but I was out the door and had already accepted another position elsewhere. Waste of time.

    Advice to Management

They won't listen to advice coming from one person or many persons.
