I have been working at SkyWest full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly people, great travel benefits, good hotels, fun crews, a life changing experience - a job like no other!

    Cons

Very early morning shows, long work days, being on reserve and not being called in to work, training is an endurance and pesonality test! You must be serious about being willing to relocate to ANY city where the comany has a domocile. Very likely that you will not get your first or even second choice.

I have been working at SkyWest full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Was a great place to work until they cut wages to lease new aircraft. Free flight benefits. Great coworkers.

    Cons

Lost Customer Service positions to United and then lost ramp contract bid to Simplicity. New company takes over officially on December 4. Merry Christmas Denver.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Supervision is lacking, need to pay more attention to employees. Give them that thank you, great job. Once in awhile goes a long way.

I have been working at SkyWest (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Flight benefits are ok. Skywest makes A LOT of money. Amazing business model!

    Cons

Low pay, over-worked, unappreciated (ramp and customer service agents at least). Skywest advocates against unions which explains the first part of this section. Refused a $.25 raise due to no money and then paid cash for ExpressJet Airlines.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to do a better job of soliciting contracts to manage all aspects of the below/above wing operations. We do it for cheaper and better. Help the mainline airlines know and understand that Skywest employees are the best and they're dumb to get rid of them. Employees continue to work mainline a/c and yet we still board after them while non-reving? The idea of promoting from within is admirable however, Skywest goes overboard in that area. I understand it saves money and training however, that accounts for 100% of the poor mid-level supervisors/managers who end up become station managers, directors and then vice presidents. Look outside every once in awhile and you'll see there's better quality out there that is worth the extra investment money. (But then again, that's how you continue to manage/manipulate them... breed from within). Executives are in it for themselves... I don't care how many times you hold a meeting with the front line employees.

I have been working at SkyWest full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Locations in the western US. Most of the people you work with are great.

    Cons

Very poor management from top down. Continue to make stupid business decisions, like investing in a loser airline in South America. I work in aircraft maintenance and the upper management gets rid of good managers and promotes crappy ones. Very much a buddy system.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your management team before you kill someone, like you almost did!
