I worked at Skyline Displays, Inc. full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Skyline has some of the most dedicated people I've worked with. They believe in what they make. From the design team to the fab shop, from the art department to the print floor, from sales & marketing to customer service, there is a culture of dedication. There is also a sense of family. Many of the people wont let you down when you need their help.

    Cons

Skyline not been able to grow past their peek in mid 2000's. The Trade Show Industry is fragmented and Skyline has tremendous potential to dominate the market... they just have not yet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To take Skyline to the next level, grow the business through acquisitions. Increase market share but keep the quality up. Also, the Dealers have too much pull and keeps Skyline from spreading it's wings.

I have been working at Skyline Displays, Inc. full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Owners are too busy with their kids athletics their presence on the business side is very limited.

    Cons

Owners are too busy with their kids athletics their presence on the business side is very limited. Even when they are present, most decisions are poorly thought-out and rarely excuted. Two profitable years in 12 years, terrible employee morale, no regard for customer service or doing whats right for the client tell you all you need to know about this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate Skyline is a good company with solid products that should be doing much better in a market like Silicon Valley. Local management should be removed and replaced.

I worked at Skyline Displays, Inc.

    Pros

Flexibility in work schedule. Management is very understanding about balancing life and work.

    Cons

You won't ever be paid top dollar by working here. But it's comfortable

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay people what they're worth, so the good employees stay rather than the employees that just do enough to get by.

I worked at Skyline Displays, Inc.

    Pros

The company has great & innovative products. There is pride in their products, which are high quality. There is a creative atmosphere.

    Cons

The management is male-dominated. There are very few women in the visible positions. Personnel problems go on for too long before anything is done about them. That makes for a distrustful working environment. Corporate direction is always in transition. It takes them forever to make a decision.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management turns a deaf ear to certain people and locations.

I have been working at Skyline Displays, Inc.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, good people, creative work environment, speak and be heard.

    Cons

Minimal growth opportunities, minimal education reimbursement. Dealer network has too much power and often pushes back at corporate. Manufacturing concerns often take a back seat to marketing pressures.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put top employees in position for advancement, both in leadership and education.

I have been working at Skyline Displays, Inc.

    Pros

The company fosters a causal working environment, and respects its employees. The company is positioned well in a very creative, high energy industry. The company offers above market benefits and a profit sharing bonus program. The company has an extensive intellectual property portfolio and an entrepreneurial and inventive spirit.

    Cons

Policies and procedures tended to be in a constant state of flux. Some of the changes seem to be the "flavor of the day" type of changes. The model of selling through dealerships limits growth opportunities in areas outside of the model and possibly confuses the company as to who the real customer is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to search for growth opportunities outside of the traditional model and foster the abilities of your employees
