I worked at SlimGenics full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Helping others lose weight and seeing client reach fitness goals. You get benefits after ninety days. You learn about supplements.

    Cons

All About Sales, Sales, Sales - Commission based pay
    Very Unprofessional and unorganized
They want to hire those with a degree and fitness background and pay them $8-10/HR
Very long week days & worked every Saturday
    Shady and dishonest management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value employees - examine your high turnover rate

I worked at SlimGenics full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Absolutely nothing!!! Except the clients walking in the door.

    Cons

The management is a joke. They lied to all of the new employees from day one. Training consisted of role playing with other trainees to memorize a series of sales scripts. Ridiculous!! A complete waste of time for anyone that has a college degree or a chance of working for a real company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pack it up and go back to Colorado. Maybe people out there don't mind being lied to and treated like a second-class citizen. In Ohio, we don't abide by lying. We are honest, hard-working and not afraid to tell the truth.

The job is great, the company is awful.

    I worked at SlimGenics

    Pros

A very good stepping stone for those who need a job now
Awesome if you don't support yourself
Most of the employees are nice and welcoming, I definitely made some life long friends
You get paid time off for holidays

    Cons

    Super unorganized
Drama is all brought down by upper management then blamed on employees
They lie about how much money you can make, as of recent they say you can make 50,000 per year. Maybe two employees in the entire company hit that mark ( I made 20,000)
Decisions are made based on feelings and pride rather than logic
Multiple managers have shown up DRUNK more than once and have still not been fired
They rarely promote from within, hiring managers who have never done the job
Nothing happens seamlessly, there is always something forgotten or a typo
Really there is no room for advancement even after you may become a manager, that's as far as you can go

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use your resources and promote counselors that you already have. Stop lying in interviews, it just makes dissatisfied employees later when they realize they are only making $9 per hour. Also, become managers and leaders! As area sales managers you two need to be the most positive, helpful resources that counselors have. And you're neither. Fire people who show up drunk. No matter what their troubles are, there is no room for that in a management position. It just makes everyone look bad.

I worked at SlimGenics full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Aiding people in weight loss was extremely rewarding

    Cons

The position was very mundane, and the pay is very little. I was told with my background I would have no trouble making a decent living on commission. Not exactly the case.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be up front with you interviewees about pay and growth before wasting time and money to train them

I have been working at SlimGenics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Counselling people to learn healthier lifestyle choices regarding nutrition and diet. Motivating and teaching clients resulting in an educational approach to weight loss.

    Cons

Commission plus base pay. Counselors do not control their client base or the product sales. Great if you enjoy talking to people face.-to.-face for upto 10 hours / day. Limited opportunity for advancement. Everything is scripted. Employees must work 6 weeks full time to earn 1 day personal time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more opportunities for positions within the centers, than just managers and counselors. Shorter work days. More PTO would help counselors from "burning out".

Former Employee - Weight Loss Consultant in Greenwood Village, CO

I worked at SlimGenics full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Wearing scrubs to work gave our clients the impression we were well trained professionals.
All weight loss consultants are trained for 1 week at the Arvada facility class room. It is an over view of the countless products

    Cons

Slimgenics does not hire a cleaning service, so weight loss consultants are required to clean the toilets, mop, vacuum and dust every night. We were also required to take inventory by hand twice a week. Selling clients supplements and food products IS THE JOB yet Slimgentics still uses 3-copy receipts that must be filled out by hand and added up like in the 1960's! The salary is an appalling $9 an hour. To make a $10 commission for the week YOU MUST call at least 60 clients and document it by hand and also in a computer (only 1 computer on site) PLUS SELL AT LEAST $1,000 in product......and they wonder why there is so much turn over.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have spent substantial money on consultants to find out what isn't working yet you do not implement the changes necessary to become a formidable player in the weight loss industry. Why is this?

    Cons
