Advice to Senior Management
you are doing Great!!!
Pros
Get a lot of hours
Learn different shifts
Training paid
A lot of different people to meet (diversity)
Discount for employees
Cons
Schedules suck at times. Night shift is better than day, I think. Logistics is not handled very well at all.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to other assistant managers and employees, you don't need to keep ordering all the things you have excess amounts of.
Pros
ability to work with your hands on a daily basis, and also the ability to work with different people everyday.
Cons
minimum wage for most basic workers, no vacation. Working overtime all the time when working with a newly opened store.
Advice to Senior Management
give better employee benefits to employes and let them buy stuff for their family. Increase the pay to attract better
Pros
Very flexible if jyou are a student
hands on ,very fast paced enviroment
Cons
no room for advancement,
a lot of favoritism
Advice to Senior Management
should have more open opportunities to every one who desire, ever since company sold out its been very limited to get a raise on salary wages.
Pros
Everybody works as a team and trust each other to do their job right so nobody has to pick up each others slack and if you actually work you will get a few extra hours.
Cons
You have to be a real brown nose to get anywhere in the company and you kind of feel more like a statistic than a recognized human being at the end of your shift.
Advice to Senior Management
Start caring for your workers that actually work or they won't care about their quality of work when they are working.
Pros
Builds good work ethic, flexible hours to students, hire pay starts above minimum, training is provided, nice uniforms look professional.
Cons
full-time hire is very rare, you have to build yourself up.There is lot of easy termination through strict rules.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers should be evaluated by their employees because throuh my 10 yr experience, Ive seen too many poor manager skills.
Pros
Very flexible as far as schedule. You can work your way up through the store if you work hard.
Cons
Favoritism. Not the easiest job in the world or best.
Advice to Senior Management
Smart and Final is doing very well with the expansion to Colorado. The executives know what they are doing but were hired through the investment firm that purchased the company a few years ago. The buyout and privatization of the company has made it very apparent that the owner are just trying to make the company more valuable to sell it again.
Pros
This is a good place to work because you wont get bored doing it, and keeps you busy. If you are a hard worker then this is a good job because its fast paced and hands on.
Cons
With hard work doesnt always follow with achievements. I've been here for a year now and no salary increase yet i am doing 10 times more job responsibilites and duties than I had when i first started. I always went to 3 different certification classes and still no improvement in wages.
Advice to Senior Management
We know that the seniors in the company know what they are doing. Just because we don't have 20 years expierence doesn't mean we are less valuable. Let us learn and achieve the same goals you once did and you will have great future leaders too. Support your employees by showing that you appreciate our great customer service skills and hard work we do every time we clock in. We Don't want only our stores to be remembered as great but the company to.
Pros
Work around your schedule. Good temporary job while attending school. Some employees are motivated and are willing to work. .
Cons
New LLC ownership. You can tell that any new programs that are implemented are just to make the company valuable before they sell it again. Not a "family" feeling at all. A LOT of ass kissing of higher ups. If you are black listed it is very obvious they are trying to get you fired. Some DM's ask for so much that they basically set you up to fail. Not enough labor. Ask us to do more with same or less labor.
Advice to Senior Management
Maybe some programs that encourage employees. Besides manager and senior assistant dinners that happen there is nothing in the store that encourages employees. No team building whatsoever. And as for the CEO....maybe he should try talking and getting to know the people that work hard for him. We were told he'd be in our store. I was kind of excited to at least meet him but he just ignored every single employee in the store as he walked around with other high ups. He doesn't care.
Pros
Good benefits package, pay it's OK. Pays your bills and the hours are M-F 8-5pm
Cons
No opportunity to move up and get promoted in the department. They hire people from the outside instead of given current employees the opportunity to move up even with a degree. Same work every day no new things coming your way & no new responsibilities.
Advice to Senior Management
Give your employees an opportunity to move up or at least give them the chance to interview, if somebody else from the outside has better qualifications then fine but at least give them the chance to prove themselves.
