I have been working at Smith College part-time

    Pros

Great environment and fun work! Everyone is so happy and interesting! Interviewing people is very interesting work and I enjoy getting to interact with a lot of students

    Cons

Sometimes the days get a little long but really none! I really enjoyed my experience and I am grateful to have had it!

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing! This was a great experience! It might be nice to have some more projects to do but besides that it was awesome!

I worked at Smith College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a great job to have a college student. It was actually interesting--not mindless at all-- and the pay was good for campus jobs. I liked my coworkers.

    Cons

None, really. I lucked out when I got this job.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Smith College (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked as a student library assistant at both the Young Science and Neilson Libraries. Great team work, friendly staff, good pay.

    Cons

I worked as a student library assistant at both the Young Science and Neilson Libraries. Some of the staff can be hard on the student workers. Minimum wage pay

    Advice to Management

I worked as a student library assistant at both the Young Science and Neilson Libraries. It is really hard for students to work while in college, be considerate.

I worked at Smith College (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good place to work! If you work in the mornings, free espresso/lattes/etc. You end up knowing a lot about what's going on on campus in terms of events because you do publicity.

    Cons

Not much to complain about, honestly. Regular trials and tribulations of a desk job where "customer" service is a big portion of the responsibility.

I have been working at Smith College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Diversity of work and people I work with. Pleasant work environment with little or no stress.

    Cons

Hard to get pay increased as job description doesn't match mainstream for comparison.

    Advice to Management

Work more on researching jobs so that compensation is accurate. in most cases the HR person does a sloppy and inaccurate job.

    Pros

Nice working environment and friendly staff. Everyone is supportive and helpful towards one another. Stress-free and not a lot of duties involved.

    Cons

There's not a lot of opportunity for promotions. Too many staff makes it hard to earn more hours.

    Advice to Management

None. The management here is great. They are all very helpful and are willing to take time to answer your questions.

I have been working at Smith College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Catering staff are friendly, easy to work with, and happy to teach new skills in cooking and serving. I wasn't expecting to learn much from this job but I did!

    Cons

Inconsistent work. At the beginning of any given semester you have no idea how much you'll work, which is frustrating for budgeting.

    Advice to Management

Great place to work, thanks for creating such a great employment opportunity for students! Glad I found this as early as I did.
