Pros
Collaborative. Able to learn a great deal/hands on. Empowered to make decisions.

SLB merger created a great deal of change.

Provide a fair and equitable review of the current Smith talent.

Respect and return business from customers because of flexibility allowed by company and customer service focus.
All companies state people to be their most valuable assets, only Smith appears to actually recognize this.

Poor technical support for NAM based international operators. Smith need to place knowledgable people in the product lines offerings to support these customers.

Place technical people to support customers.
Continue to work on product development to keep our competitors from catching up or surpassing.

In the oil field industry there is a lot of the good ole boy mentality, I still see alot of that going on. Promotions are made based on who you know a lot of times when qualified people are waiting on the side lines to be promoted.

Expanding world market that allows employees the ability to work almost anywhere in the world. They offer company vehicles and competitive salary

never sure how the oil and gas market is going to hold up in a new economy and social pressure for alternative energy solutions

I can only speak on my local management and just because the industry has traditionaly been a good ol' boy environment doenst mean that promotions should be based on friendship instead of merit

It is the best place to work because of it's work environment, always looking into how to do things better. They treat their empolyee's with respect and show appriciation in form of bonus or profit sharing

There are not any downsides of working at smith international from my point of view. It is best company to work for

I do not think there is any advice I could give to the management of Smith International. I would just say Well Guys!!!

The company has gotten so big that sometimes we lack pro-active communication and silos in the organization that take away from the strategy One Smith

Stay in tune with the field, employees and customers on what is expected for superior customer service to be a first class service company
