ProsThe benefits alone are worth working here. You get raises every 6 months and it is a very nice place to work.

ConsI have no cons at working at Smithfield because it is an awesome place to work.If you haven't tried working here then you don't need to say anything bad about it.

Advice to Senior ManagementI think all of the management are doing an awesome job at the location where I work and I wouldn't want to work anywhere else.

ProsThe people there are fun, funny, enthusiastic. Upper management is understandable. They help you through your professional growth. Great place to work.

ConsThe only negative feedback I would give is the work. Work was difficult but had to be done. It was necessary.

Advice to Senior ManagementExtremely professional and supportive. They treat you like humans, not like machines. They are extremely friendly and kind. Great people.

Prosmost jobs dont require any lifting whatsoever,

Conssome lines require you to lift 60-70 pound hams up onto another conveyor belt, and thats about the only hard part

ProsGood Benefits able to move up in producton good pay my hours are good now paid vacation paid holidays

Consthe point system the pain involved there are some good supervisors but there are others that dont understand the waything should be done we are the ones that do the job hands on so i believe when there is an easier way of doing the job but the same amount of work is being done and its less strain on us it should be took into concideration

Advice to Senior ManagementI know u cant put this company on tv but I believe we need to have an undercover boss come in every plant from somewhere high up in the chain so they can see for there selves the thing really going on then mabey if they try and do a job hands on they will see there are better ways of getting the right amount of production done at a smoother and more organized fashion

Advice to Senior Managementif white hats put quaity first it would be better, they just want to get the meat out the door ,so it looks better for corpate ,hourly wage people work hardes get paid lowest ,if they would pay more they would get even better ,and maybe have more team work.

ProsIn my experience I have learned more a bout Environmental than i ever knew before and I love it. Managers have a lot to do with that. Pay is good, and the opportunities are great. If you are interested in a career at Smithfield Packing, management will help you get there. Community involvement is great. Environmental issues are handled promptly.

ConsThe only downside that i see with the company is that they don't want to spend the money to put enough people, or (the right people) in our department. When one person is out there is no one to take their place and the Supervisor has to do the job along with their own job. That results in not a lot of time for family or to take care of business matters.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way to see how many hrs. Salary employees are putting into the job and compensate for the hrs. daily or cut back the hrs. I work 12 and 13 hrs. a day every day for the same pay.
