I have been working at Smokey Bones full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fast paced and for the most part friendly staff. There is always something to do so there is little down time.

    Cons

Constant changes to operations and recipes...which is fine and keeps things fresh, but more often than not, how it is communicated is last minute. With the expectations being high, quality of life is low.

I have been working at Smokey Bones full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

can be a fun environment, good culture, good direction that corporate is trying to take the company in

    Cons

some GMs are lazy and do not lead by example, do not practice what they preach. some restaurants have a negative atmosphere, management is not a team, managers are singled out and treated like crap, poor team skills stemming from the GMs lack of ability to lead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

fire the GM who skates by and does not do his job, he has been able to get by due to the revolving door that is that store with managers, there is always some one else to blame and he has been allowed to get by on excuses after excuses.

I worked at Smokey Bones full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Very high energy and faced paced. You can make endless money. Friendly employees. A great place to work and have fun in. Endless possibilities here.

    Cons

There were Con's but everyone has a different experience. For me it was the lack of interest the person who made my schedule care about my quality of life. But I can tell you the people who's schedule I did... I tried my best to be fair and listen, give them the special days that meant something off. You have to give a little to get a little. Trainers need to be more educated on the training process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your quality of life effects all your employee's. Take a minute and listen to all their concerns. They all want to do well in their job because if they don't they don't succeed. They are what ultimately make the management and business grow succeed and look good. So take that 5-10 minutes to show you care because if you don't they why should they?

I have been working at Smokey Bones full-time

    Pros

Smokey Bones Culture is known by all employees. They speak it and demonstrate it daily.

    Cons

Way too many company initiatives and last minute updates. Executives need to get a true understanding of the concept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage feedback, listen to it, and impact what you hear. The feelings out there is if you don't agree and speak up you will be terminated.

I have been working at Smokey Bones full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The best reason to work here is the money comes quick and early. You can make 100 bucks from 5pm to 9pm on certain days. The scheduling is very flexible.and the management is pretty easy to work for.

    Cons

This place is big. Expect to walk several miles per shift. Especially if you pull a double.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should let the staff wear ballcaps again! It boosts morale and fits the atmosphere. The customers benefit from great morale.

I have been working at Smokey Bones part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Flexible schedule.

Some of the employees genuinely cared about the direction of the restaurant and provided a much needed boost in team morale (unfortunately, they were not considered for a promotion).

    Cons

No one cares that the servers look like complete slobs.

Typical food industry drama among employees.

Upper management needs to be fired immediately.

I worked at Smokey Bones part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Till this day I tell people I miss working for Smokey Bones. I have worked in other restaurants before but Smokey Bones was the best. Great money, great people, great times. As any service job it can get stressful. For a corporate restaurant it is awesome. I worked a non-corporate restaurant and it was more corporate than Smokey Bones. Not a hard menu to learn, drinks can be difficult but other than that, Serve here, It is a good time.

    Cons

You never know what time you leave, but that is all service jobs.
