It's a great thing for an organisation to grow but growing together is always better than growing alone. The employees should also grow with the organisation.

I have been working at Snapdeal full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Leadership is a bit shaky, but they are working towards it.
There are some new technical things happening and you'll have a lot of responsibilities if you ask for them, regardless of what your position. The scale itself will force you learn and employ better coding practices.
HR is trying hard to make the company employee friendly, so that's on the upswing.

    Cons

Too many new people who don't know the system too well, and an inadequate knowledge transfer system to get the up to speed.
Big bunch of things being outsourced to contractors, leaving the current team as mediators (and god help us if we are the maintainers).
Noisy workplace, constant meetings (mostly because people don't know & don't care enough to ask about there own systems)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) Please please please, do have some vision for the product you are building. It can't survive as a clone of Amazon/FK/Alibaba.
    2) And a decent employee retention scheme. You can't let go of good talent willy nilly.
    3) As Warren Buffet has said, if you can't produce a baby in 1 month if you employ 9 women. Training the talent you have is something you have to do !

I have been working at Snapdeal full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Work Environment is really good. You are solely judged only on your performance and not on other factors.

Learning Experience (personal and professional) has been wonderful. People are really cooperative and good-natured.

Engineers have direct interaction with the PM team and are very much part of the decision making process. Engineers here are a part of the process where they are free to provide inputs to the PM Team.

Get to see Russian/Ukrainian Models (who come for photo-shoot) everyday :P :D

    Cons

No proper canteen/cafeteria. No sports facilities.

Noise level is damn too high. Sometimes it becomes intolerable to hear the chattering/gossiping of Business/Sales/HR Team. Software Engineers need some silence to do coding. Provide them seperate bays if possible and enforce some discipline.

Very few meeting rooms. It's like a challenge to book a meeting room.

No proper processes/procedures are enforced. Nothing is properly documented including the requirements of a release, timelines etc. Most of the things are decided verbally. This leads to a lot of chaos, misunderstandings and some-times blame-game starts to happen.

Company is more focussed on expanding its business rather than improving its technology platform

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please move to a proper campus with all basic facilities like cafeteria, lounge, many meeting rooms etc.

Software Engineers need some silence to do coding. Provide them separate bays if possible and enforce some discipline to maintain decorum and silence.

Try to bring in more and more quality automation engineers or SDETs. If Snapdeal has to resolve its production issues, it must move from Maunal to Automation Testing.

Bring some monumental changes in HR policies while hiring for Technology Team. There is absolutely no automated process. Hiring process is also very flawed and lenient which leaves the scope of cheating. There must be a proper process managed through a software/doc through which feedbacks of the interviewer are recorded. This will help Snapdeal in filtering only good candidates.
