    Adequate work environment.

    Pros- Good benefits
    - Good people
    - If you are willing to roll up your sleeves, you will be recognized and rewarded in time.

    Cons- Conditions may depend on which store you are working in
    - Management culture can seem a bit inflexible at times

    Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your staff a bit better. You don't treat them poorly, but, you don't treat them great either.

    ProsGood location and lower level managers seem to stick together in solidarity which is nice.

    ConsIts common practice now to just hire friends and friends of the family. OR people that reported to you at a previous company.
    Management doesn't take accountability and rely on lower level employees to make their decisions for them.

    Advice to Senior ManagementDon't take all the credit for your teams work.
    Treat your employees with respect.

    I enjoy my experience working at sobeys. busy at times but time flies. enjoyable customers and co workers.

    Sobeys is a high end supermarket, the low end management is in most part pretty good.

    ProsThe job offers a good clean working environment. Customers are respectful towards the employees. Sobeys always offers excellent customer satisfaction.

    ConsSobeys does not offer enough full-time positions, they avoid hiring full-time employees. They pay minimum wage and do not let exceed a 32 hour work week. as a part-time employee. All of this results in high turn over of staff and people that simply don't care.

    Advice to Senior ManagementHire more full time employees, people that want the job and are reliable. Offer them something better than minimum wage some kind of incentive. Show gratitude and respect to your employees and they will return it.

    ProsSome pros to this company are their positive environment, great facilities, flexibility of work hours and employee benefits.

    ConsThere were very few downsides to the job at Sobeys, but one that stuck out was the difficulty of getting the job in the first place. Seems like you would need to know someone to get the job.

    Front end service is the place to be

    Cashier (Current Employee)

    Pros- generally an easy-going environment
    - No issues or complaints unless you have done something wrong
    - management is fairly flexible when it comes to time off
    - coworkers are always nice enough to help you if you need to switch a shift or have it taken
    - it's nice to go to work and be with people who make the job more enjoyable

    Cons- Lack of communication between managers and front end staff (especially when policies change)
    - unfair treatment among coworkers
    - the front end staff appear to be the only happy employees throughout every dept.

    Advice to Senior ManagementWhen new promotions come up and/or changes are made to policies, make sure department managers relay the message to staff in a reasonable way. (Message boards are often over looked, so verbal communication is key.)
