I have been working at Société Générale full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Work pressure is ok, and employee don't have to slog everytime

    Cons

The management is very worst, so you don't feel to work at your best. Just you get salary so you may try to work there. Lot of bureaucracy in almost all the team, and people are there as manager by chance NOT they deserve.
The organization lack leaders so, there is no road map neither for the org not for yourself.
Never commend this company to anyone.

I worked at Société Générale full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Attempt to move up the value chain. Relatively flexible work hours

    Cons

The whole place is lazy, lethargic and beauracratic. No career advancement, no proper benchmarking, condescending attitude towards employees, poor hikes, no clear vision, expectations mismanagement, not very transparent, no training and guidance, leaves you in a lurch. I would a big risk for your job/career stepping into such a place. A living anti-thesis to Richard Branson's saying "Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don't want to"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide clear inputs, transparent feedback, improve employee engagement, provide better training and aim to keep the employees motivated.

I have been working at Société Générale full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

My colleagues (analysts, sales, associates) in London are pleasant day-to-day, although everyone in London (reality is Paris too but opportunities in that market for FS are extremely limited) is basically trapped at SG because of poor market conditions/opportunities.

    Cons

Many of the management have only ever worked at SG and it is very French and political. Very poor pay and bonuses compared to the market. Generally the analyst team is positive and collegial but most are looking for the first opportunity to get out. The IT systems and general organisation is incompetent. Morale is low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hard to imagine SG changing - it will never be an international Deutsche Bank, but rather a small, political, French bank with an office in London.

I worked at Société Générale as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Nice location, next to tower bridge. But this doesn't really help if the job is killing you inside.

    Cons

Poor decisions made in choice of management, majority of my colleagues have left the company since change of management.
    Poor treatment of contractors.
Unrealistic work expectations. Not paid enough for the work involved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose carefully when promoting people to management. Or provide them with management training. Be reallistic of what is expected from employees/contractors...

I have been working at Société Générale full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    1.Good work life balance
    2.Not much pressure
3.You will come to know how to work independently.

    Cons

Lot of cons but few here...

1.Really bad politics going on interms of tamil ,telugu peoples making hell lot of mess here.
2.A telugu guys go for taking interview he select only telugu guy only (100%).
3.If a Tamil guy goes to take interview only tamil guys will be selected even if they are not good.
4.Now earlier only tamil politics was more now both tamil and telugu politics dominating like hell.
5.Now only the guys staying from long time will have more importance if you are new to team gone case.
6.some managers don't have technical knowledge itself'working under them is pathetic.
7.Worst for people who want to build their career and move ahead in their career path coz you wont get promotions if you are not from tamil or telugu bg.
8.Now telugu peoples are playing hell lot of politics here please dont join this company beware.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

1.Remove the people who are staying from long time and doing nothing but playing politics of regionalism.
2.Just check out every team how the hiring process taking place whether its transparent or not.
3.Real problem is with regional politics better u prevent it now or else SG will loose its talent pool for sure.
4.Please take care of T gang(Tamil and Telugu gang) prevention is better than cure.
