    I worked at Société Générale

    Pros

You can learn a lot from your manager. You may get first-hand experience of the financial product of SG.

    Cons

Your sit next to your manager and he can see whatever you are doing. It's may cause a little bit depressing.

    Pros

annual trips to HQ in Paris, work/life balance unlike other investment banks, nespresso machines on every trading floor

    Cons

pay for the work/life balance benefit with pay that is below industry norms, too many managerial layers, productivity/efficiency

    Pros

The best reason to work here is to work with managers and directors who are committed to helping grow your career.

    Cons

One of the challenges is that pay increases don't match what you can get on the open market at least not as fast as one would hope.

    Advice to Management

Some advice to Upper management would be to continue to help make the NY office feel as important as the Paris office.

    Pros

Office culture is like working in a country where there is no respect for humanity, ethnicity or gender. Sexual jokes and racist jokes are quite common and openly told out. There is no control of any hr policies to protect bullying and sabotaging others on the basis of their background .Most important if you complain against unlawful conduct they lay you off. Stay away and save yourself from unprofessional garbage

    Cons

Senior leadership is disconnected from the rest of the team members. Works according to the jungle law where people fight, demean and steal to get their food.

    Advice to Management

Upper mamnagement needs to look at other renowned finance/banking firms within United States and promote a healthy and non hostile environment for employees to work in. HR policies should be more stringent like other American firms and taken seriously.

    Pros

Stable Company, will still be in existence in 5 years

    Cons

Refusal to add the necessary head count even with increasing regulation, refusal to increase salaries, cutting back on bonuses/promotions while increase CEO compensation 18%

    Advice to Management

Appreciate that the bonus pools were limited and there was notification of it, but over-stating the lower bonuses while increasing the CEO compensation that is government-appointed is a depressing poor place to work with way too many layers of middle management who do not do their workload but push it down to their underlings.
