I have been working at SocialChorus full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Young atmosphere and fun culture. Free, catered lunch every Wednesday. Team members are helpful, outgoing, and welcoming. Office is in a great location in the embarcadero, right next to the Muni/BART station and nice views of downtown SF. The company pays for happy hr's a couple times a month. Everything is very transparent when it comes to career development and leadership. Everyone is very goal-oriented and driven to succeed.

    Cons

Sick days aren't listed in the contract, only PTO.

I worked at SocialChorus full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Lots of autonomy, nice location, good benefits (401K, tax-free transit, partially healthcare coverage). Occasional free lunches (so long as you're not a vegetarian).

    Cons

Not a lot of respect of employees from upper management (especially if you're a create type). Employees often kept in the dark about policy changes, new directions, etc. Generally unfocused as a company, but with plenty of cronies willing to change their outlook on business at a moment's notice. A company that expects more loyalty than its willing to give.

Good people and a solid idea, but misguided by management and investors.

I worked at SocialChorus full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The people who work there are all great and enjoy spending time together both during and after work. Unlike some startups they're serious about maintaining a life-work balance and almost always work 9-6 days.

    Cons

Product was riddled with bugs and didn't seem to be improving over time. It's a solid idea, but that only goes so far. Employee turnover was very high.

    Pros

Good culture, fun people, doing well in their market / category. I enjoy coming in to work every day, which is saying a lot.

    Cons

It's a start up. So there's always a lot of work to be done and never enough people to do it. You either love that kind of environment or you don't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at SocialChorus full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Very great people to work with with everyone being very open and accessible. The Product and Development teams are trying to build a work culture that emphasizes best work practices and skill-learning rather than getting the working its employees as hastily as possible. I feel like my time is respected despite being an employee for less than a year.

    Cons

The company is going through some growing pains and has been expanding as a company and a business. Several new hires coming in and no stopping in sight. I'm both excited and anxious to see if SocialChorus can make a transition to being a larger company that can handle a lot more employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the product of high quality and not rely on roughly created features sets to sell it.

I have been working at SocialChorus full-time

    Pros

SocialChorus is growing quickly as the advocate marketing space fires up, and the company is well positioned to be the #1 or #2 in the category. If you're looking for a company where you'll learn a lot by jumping in and "doing" this would be a good place for you. The culture is pretty ambitious and most employees take initiative by taking things on that they don't 100% understand - resulting in good experience and many learning opportunities. This also means there is a strong "learn from your mistakes" "try anything once" culture, event at the executive level which helps provide the extra courage to try something new. The people are pretty young (mostly 20's other than upper management) and like to have fun. There's a fair amount of social activities. In some capacity everyone works with large, innovative brands that are SocialChorus customers, which is pretty exciting and interesting. The CEO is very open and honest, sharing as much as he can and addresses most issues head on instead of skirting around them or hiding behind email.

    Cons

The product still has some growing up to do and is buggy. The current office is small/old and can get really loud. Engineers get a better experience than other employees: free meals, hour long lunches and set working hours. There is very little training and guidance unless you are a developer. Eyes are sometimes taken off the ball to focus on "shiny pennies" that won't necessary drive the business forward.
