Pros
to get insurance for your family
Cons
no respect from management no training at all.
Advice to Senior Management
respect is #1 to make people work hard for you stop promoting only white color and most managers need to take training classes and how to be professional.
Pros
The pay rate for my postion with Sodexo compared to the same postion at my last job, (starbucks) is much better (about a $4/hr. raise) and its less stressful due to the fact that its less busy.
Cons
There's not very much room to advance in the company. There is a definite gap between "the workers" and "management" because the management doesnt really talk to or associate themselves with the workers who dont have a "management" title.
Advice to Senior Management
If you have an opening in a position that you cant seem to get filled, and you have a current employee that simply asks about what the job description is... Dont giggle and tell your employee that they're not qualified because they need a degree and experience. Its unprofessional as the head of HR and it doesnt look good on you when the current employee proves to you that they are qualified because of experience and they have a degree.
Pros
Working with their management team was satisfactory because the atmosphere was open to questions and allowed me to feel confident in completing my work
Cons
The con to my pro is that sometimes, working as an intern, I had to figure out things on my own, and there were times where I didn't know what to do if management wasn't around.
Advice to Senior Management
I loved working for your company. The people that I worked with were professional, and knowledgeable about their field, and I benefited tremendously
Pros
The people. They take care of there employees for the long term. Very good benifits and a an excellent HR and Benefits support team to assist the employees.
Cons
I belive they offer a lower salary base than other similar companies. They should provide the Sodexo manager training prior to placing a manager into an account.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide mandatory Sodexo corp. management training before putting any manager into an account. Do not do it 2-10 months latter. Please review your'e pay scales with your direct competitors, is it similar?
Pros
Employees where free to do whatever they wanted because there is no supervision.
Cons
All employees are not treated equally. Manager was not available when needed.
Advice to Senior Management
Supervise your managers. Most of the time the Manager was no where to be found.
Pros
location is close to home
Cons
incompetent management don't understand the business, too busy self promoting themselves to see the contract going down the pan
Advice to Senior Management
Stop listening to the 'yes' people and do the right things
Pros
Weekly pay, good benefits free lunch
Cons
Got laid off after 5 months, due to them hiring to many employee
Pros
It's a face paced environment. There are others with whom to commiserate. Allies can be easily found. If you're in food service, the food actually tastes pretty good! Overall, the company is great and successful and you just have to have thick skin to work there.
Cons
Take note that if you are working with someone closely that is in high level management, or that is ranked above you, that is a jerk, it's going to be harder to get rid of them or have them change for the better than it is to leave. Especially when they are considered to be a part of two "protected" classes.
Advice to Senior Management
If there is a person in upper management that is a jerk to most of their colleagues and employees, you'd reduce your turnover rate.
Pros
Easy work, accommodating to your schedule, variety of work stations, generally fun and diverse co-workers. Free meals on most shifts!
Cons
You smell like food after work, can't paint your nails or wear jewelry, staying on your feet for hours at a time, having to scarf down meals on a 15 minute break.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure to tell employees when the schedule has been changed mid-week! I liked to write down my schedule for a week at a time and one time it was changed and I didn't know about an extra shift.
Pros
a good understanding and balance between work and home life
Cons
The corporate culture is years behind other of my prior employees- very traditional in nature
