I worked at Sofitel Hotels full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Discounts at other Accor properties when traveling.

    Cons

Bullying by superiors, harrassment by superiors, no opportunities for advancement, company does not want to invest in your future or your skills, does not provide you with the necessary tools to do your job. Overall an incredibly negative, controlling environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider lower level employees important instead of just focusing on your executive team. There are so many problems with the way your executive team treats your mid-level employees and that is why the Chicago property has so much turnover.

    I worked at Sofitel Hotels

    Pros

Free food. It's an ok place if it's your first job to get a few months experience. You will learn how not to treat others.

    Cons

If you are not one of H.R.'s "favorites" then you'll never have a chance of surviving. Extremely political, more so then most companies.
If the managers don't like you they will make up lies to get you written up and eventually fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit the backstabbing, the gossip and favoritism. Spend more time learning and doing your job and less time trying to figure out how to sabotage employees who you personally do no care for. I have seen some incredible employees get fired, or forced to leave only because management did not like them on a personal level.

I worked at Sofitel Hotels as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Training: The finance team was more than willing to give me more responsabilities than what my job entitled me to do

    Cons

Compensation: Sofitel does not pay its interns and does not give them any compensation, which is no longer a common practice on the job market

I worked at Sofitel Hotels as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Not many positives other than the people I worked with. All the staff were lovely and an absolute pleasure to work with. I only worked here for two months but I did get the feeling that they would have supported all of my aspirations and done everything possible to help me

    Cons

Due to shift work the hours I was normally placed on weren't particularly social. Either 6-15 or 15-00. The latter of which is a lot worse. The staff canteen served some interesting food to say the least, often serving the same meals on consecutive days.
