    I worked at Software AG

    Pros

Great people, great products, great benefits, some positions with work-at-home options. Good work-to-life balance.

    Cons

German company forced to RIF in the U.S. on a regular basis to meet their bottom line (it is more difficult to RIF in Germany). Talent or contribution of employees being released is not considered.

I would recommend working at SAG to any U.S. citizen who is willing to deal with the huge regular possibility of being let go in order to experience the really great benefits of working at SAG -- especially someone young enough to adjust easily after being RIFed.

I have been working at Software AG full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work with many different companies, and work with many technologies

    Cons

Most jobs are "one man shows" so there is very little sense of community. Also, management has kicked up the focus on financials in 2014, so that aspect takes up more time and energy of the employees now. Very little career opportunity after 5-10 years of experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on empowering employees to deliver excellence.

I have been working at Software AG full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Generous time off policy and good benefits. A fair amount of autonomy and nice work life balance.

    Cons

Too many acquisitions in a short time has made the employees confused, conflicted and disjointed. Recruiting is tough due to lack of brand awareness. Lots of turnover in many areas of the company and constant "right sizing" keep the employees on edge. No real sense of belonging or loyalty.

I have been working at Software AG full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The platforms are awesome and are considered leaders by the analysts.

    Cons

    Everything else
In 2013, 72% of the sales team left, management does not understand how to sell enterprise software, and believes the value of a solid customer relationship is pointless. I could provide additional details, but one of my colleagues from NY did an excellent job explaining the numerous challenges in one of the responses below.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the N.A. CEO and all of his underlings in the sales organization.
