Decent benefits, but very poor treatment of consultants

I worked at Sogeti full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - No insurance premiums
    - reasonable starting salaries
    - paid bench
    - education stipend is generous, if you can get them to approve your expenses
    - some people in management/sales are actually really nice and are trying to be good people, they just work for a company that doesn't support/enable that

    Cons

    - no support from management
    - poor treatment of employees and customers: threatened to sue both me and my client when i left
    - threatened to sue me for a breach of employee agreement by going to work for my client (not technically a violation, as it's not consulting services), though other people who left at the same time to work for their clients received no such threat
    - bonus structure is an absolute joke - recruiters love to tout "the opportunity for a $20,000 bonus!" but you will be lucky if you get $2,500.
    - no support for working mothers - i had to pump in a locker room, where i got walked in on by male cleaning staff
    - almost no annual compensation increase, and no communication about it last year
    - mixed messages: consistent emails saying how well the company is doing, funding bonuses at 102%, but consultants taking salary cuts
    - really poor morale in the office
    - mandatory evening events scheduled with a week's notice
    - not a ton of diversity in clients, though that may be changing
    - even when my client manager specifically told sogeti he wanted me to take a particular training class, they said they wouldn't let me pay for it with the education stipend they talk up while recruiting you.
    - local and even some national leadership doesn't seem to be able to handle pressure well

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - treat your consultants like they are actually people, not walking dollar signs
    - don't be surprised when everyone who is good at their job leaves
    - don't burn bridges when your consultants leave. it's a small world, and you don't want them having horror stories to share

Good Company but "good old boy" connections needed to move up.

I have been working at Sogeti full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Nice salary and fairly good benefits. 401K is great if you can stick around for 3 years. Management mostly leaves you alone to go about your business. There is a hands off mentality to their management style which is nice while you are busy working away at the clients office.

    Cons

The bonus structure is a joke and you have to be "in" with the graders to really make a bonus that is worth anything. Don't let the recruiter talk you into the fact that it is easy to hit the $10 or $20K bonuses. Literally only the golden employees hit those. If you land $2.5K bonus you did really well. The reimbursement program is a hassle and the company credit card does not create any efficiencies. You might as well use your personal card to get the benefits from it (miles or points).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you invest in the right managers that are committed to the area they are located in. A division manager in Seattle cannot perform his job very well if they live on the other side of the country.

    Cheap company, no opportunities

I worked at Sogeti full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

*Occasional opportunities to work from home

    *No insurance premiums

    Cons

*EXTREMELY little opportunity for career mobility

*Responsible for buying work essentials (mouse, keyboard, monitor)

*Impossible for new consultants to get bonuses

    *No compensation for overtime

*Provided manager ample time to know of my resignation, VP & Corporate held it against me and made my last day a week before I had requested, preventing me (while pregnant) to be denied benefits and a week's pay

    *Micromanaging Team Leads

*CHEAP work events - Costco food that employees would have to prepare

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reassess budget to ensure morale - clients pay good money for consultant services and consultants aren't compensated or given ample supplies to do their work

I have been working at Sogeti

    Pros

Much larger job pool, for people to find opportunities.
    Benefits package is pretty good.

    Cons

HR/Management does not care about you.
Company truly seems to have a gang/mafia mentality when it comes to your tenure. Once you join, they don't want you to ever leave and they have the non-compete to back it up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on convincing people to be loyal to you.
