Worst Company - don't get fooled by the CapGemini brand

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsWould have nothing good to say. If you are lucky one of few, you can survive with a good billing position

ConsEach unit is fractured from rest of the organization. Every employee is just another source of revenue. Work hours are crazy. Performance evaluation is a joke. Bonus program is one of trickiest, seems like you will make good bonus until the last day of the year when you slide down badly and end up getting nothing. They don't trust their employees one bit. The senior management is just happy making their bonus and care less about their own. They make false promises to both employees and customers about capabilities and put undue pressure on the middle management and below to get the work done. The benefits like profit sharing and 401k match are deceiving. They don't vest until you complete 3 years. If you are on bench, you are pretty much on your own or they try to fit you in any role with no skill match.

Great opportunity to grow. Not a lot of direction though.

    (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsTons of opportunities to grow outside of you client engagement. Always looking for people to help lead initiatives and get involved outside of the normal day to day job. Excellent stable client base in Chicago with some great opportunities and ability to stay local. Very hands off (which is good and bad).

ConsSalaries are average and below average for many. Bonus plan is inconsistent and somewhat out of your control. Management is very hands off unless you engage them (like I said, good and bad).

Advice to Senior ManagementPush your employees. Hire the best and the brightest. Don't settle just because you need to fill an opening. If you want to be the best, you need to hire the best and keep them engaged & pay market value.

    Sogeti

    IT Consultant (Former Employee)

    ProsGood company with benefits.
Well educated and excectuing IT Sales staff to get you positions

ConsSometimes back office has no idea really what you do.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen more to consultants.

    So-So

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsDallas office had personable consultants

ConsManagement is not at client sites and therefore promotions are given based off office politics rather than performance. Very bottom line company, they want you out and billable and don't care if your happy in that role. Very smooth talkers and will say they will try to get you moved to a different project but often times that doesn't happen and they simply tell you they are "aggressively" working on it

Advice to Senior Managementpromotions should be based of performance not brown nosing.

    Good people, mediocre leadership team

Senior Manager (Former Employee) Baltimore, MD

ProsThey seem to pay ok relative to peers, profit levels support at market pay

ConsLeadership is simply abysmal. We want to be Deloitte or IBM or Accenture is not a business strategy. This is your atypical IT company filled with smart engineers that understand computer code and cyberspace - and have no idea about human beings and behavior. Which is what makes Sogeti mediocre and an also-ran as a competitor in their space. They simply believe that money is the #1 an only factor that motivates people to do their jobs and fear of another guy getting more drives you to do it better. This is really what they believe

Advice to Senior ManagementNone. Would serve no purpose

Not the best, but not the worst

    Project Manager (Former Employee)

Pros6-week bench if contract ends without cause
PTO increases the longer you work
Severance pay commiserate with number of years you worked if client fires you
Healthcare premiums are paid for whole family

ConsThey do not have your back if client fires you regardless of how long you've worked there
No overtime - everything goes into 'comp time' bucket
    Weirdly arcane bonus system
No pay raise when bill-rate to customer increases
Health care is catastrophic but has a higher deductible than the most you can withhold in an HSA
You have to do a whole 'review process' as if you aren't nothing more than an income-generating resource for them

Advice to Senior ManagementGet better healthcare
Stop trying to be a hybrid - right now there are all the disadvantages of both being treated as a 'real' employee of a company AND all the disadvantages of being a wageslave farmed out to other companies (i.e. a vendor/contractor). The few pros of being treated as an employee are outweighed by the crud you have to put up with (such as not getting any overtime you earned).

    Big Promises Small Results

Senior Consultant (Current Employee) Seattle, WA

ProsIt's a good foot in the door / developmental career stop. For those that are needing to build your resume and get some good experience then this is a decent starting point.

ConsNo real upward mobility. You can get promoted but rarely see anything reflected in your pay for the work you do. They only care about the bottom dollar and not the people that make up the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn to respect the people that work for you in the same way that you demand their respect.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
