I have been working at Sogeti as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's a good foot in the door / developmental career stop. For those that are needing to build your resume and get some good experience then this is a decent starting point.

    Cons

No real upward mobility. You can get promoted but rarely see anything reflected in your pay for the work you do. They only care about the bottom dollar and not the people that make up the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to respect the people that work for you in the same way that you demand their respect.

I have been working at Sogeti full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Ability to sell and deliver are available to each consultant

    Cons

Limited solution based deliveries for clients were available - mostly resource / staff aug based - that gets old after awhile. HR management has been very weak over the years. Promotions are limited and you must push for the promotion rather than your body of work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Contribution margin is important but not only indicator of success with a client

I worked at Sogeti full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Benefits - 401K
Local Management was great but had their hands tied by HQ with over the top policies.

    Cons

    There are so many.
Policies are restrictive, they do not provide you the tools to do your job (phone, useful computer).
Executive Management is out of touch with what it takes to build a great organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to be a Consulting Company stop acting like a staffing company! Invest real $$ into your employees.

    I worked at Sogeti

    Pros

Good benefits, good place to learn about consultancy and testing, innovation, full of people who are passionate about testing

    Cons

Too many people in senior positions with egos who only care about their part of the business looking good/doing well as opposed to working together towards a bigger goal, flexible working does just not exist, no diversity in the leadership team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dear CEO: Make tough decisions, stick with them and fully implement them, even if it means being unpopular or risking senior people leaving - doing this will not only save your Company but also earn you the respect of your employees, who are your greatest asset. Business is business and you can't please everyone, nor change your mind because someone runs to you dissatisfied about something. Look beyond the next profit figures at the bigger picture.

    Pros

Good Benefits and if you land the right project you will be happy until you land on the bench.

    Cons

Environment is fear driven and motivation is lacking. Not a place to inspire anyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Could be such a great company if they just thought about decisions instead of reacting on what makes todays dollar. You miss the big picture of success when such short focus is used.

    I worked at Sogeti

    Pros

Sogeti has a nice brand name with a high profile parent company; CapGemini. It has a great benefits package including a terrific 401k option...if you can wait 3 years for it to vest. There are lots of talented people employed by Sogeti who are passionate about what they do and can deliver high quality work.

    Cons

There is little to no communication from leadership to it's consultants. The moral is low and not much is being done to change that. There is a high turnover rate and the projects are tactical in nature.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Regroup and realize your consultants are a valued asset and not a warm body to staff. Have an open and transparent communication process.

I have been working at Sogeti

    Pros

High right out of college pay

    Cons

Get lost in the company by always being on client sites

I worked at Sogeti full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Exposure to different client and technologies. Company internal web-based training programs enables you to be more marketable. Benefits package is pretty decent and they do offer a bonus program. I felt I was working with some of the best technical people in the business.

    Cons

Sogeti is a 24/7 operation and usually doesn't offer a professional and personal life balance. You will be required to be at a client site then also build partnerships outside the billable time. This coupled with required skill training makes it difficult to maintain a balanced life.

    I worked at Sogeti full-time

    Pros

Frequently new projects; may switch practices once a year; potential for growth.

    Cons

If you decided to specialize in a certain area of IT consulting and there are no projects on the pipeline in that area you will be let go. Must hound account reps for job placements. Insurance benefits are minimal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure that every entry level consultant has a competent advisor.
Don't allow practice leads to tell consultants guarantees when this may not be true. This gives a false sense of security when one could be looking for another job.
