Pros
Never laid off any good employees even if there is no work
Cons
Offshore development center sucks big time, due to which onsite consultant needs to work extra
Advice to Senior Management
Need to spend more time and money in setting up CMM 5 level offshore branch
Pros
Highly talented Consultants and Leadership Team across the board. Excellent benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401K matching, Disability/Life Insurance and Tuition Reimbursement).
Cons
Working on transition for a small office locally in the Seattle market to a lager unit after a fairly recent aquisition. Also working to increase opportunities across multiple clients vs. a few.
Pros
Good experience working with a larger organization.
Its nice to have the CAP Gemini spade in your company logo.
Cons
Sogeti has great potential but Senior Management is comprised of "yes men" that seem to be unable to think for themselves... Very little transparency with management and an inability to properly correct issues at a grassroots level.
Advice to Senior Management
Think for yourselves... Dont be afraid to make a mistake once in a while. Its part of growing.
Pros
Everything you need is available for you to advance, as long as you are motivated to work for it.
Cons
Getting acclimated initially is hard, but once the culture is understood is comes to be much easier.
Advice to Senior Management
Make the CAB practices from the Heartland the same for the other regions. In now creating a CAB for Caronlina's and East, there are many items they have been lacking. Explains the variances of employee experiences from other regions.
Pros
great management team at the seattle office!
Cons
fewer project based opportunities for consultants
Advice to Senior Management
start a campus recruitment program
Pros
Good people in the lower cadres
Good portfolio of clients
Good 401K
Cons
Excessive and obsessed focus on billing.
No external training. period.
Little focus on employee advancement
Advice to Senior Management
dont change rules affecting bonuses at the last hour.
Pros
Stay local. If you have low salary demands ( = low rate to the client) and in-demand operational technical skills, then you can get placed in a long-term, stable engagement. Sogeti loves long-term engagements because you'll always be bringing in revenue.
Cons
Short-term, weekly pressure to staff aug, body shop, stay off the bench, and reduce costs/expenses/salaries. Very operational. One step away from contract-to-hire firms although Sogeti does a lot of contract-to-hire.
Advice to Senior Management
Have integrity and reward the people who do all the hard work, not the VP's who make their dashboards green.
Pros
Good 401k and usually there's a bonus deposit to the 401k in the middle of the year. They provide the full MSDN to developers along with a so so laptop. Pretty decent amount of vacation time once you hit 3 years.
Cons
You'll go where they need you be ready to be sold as an expert in something you've spent two day's on. The Sales reps tend to play favorites both in who they place where and providing points towards your year end bonus. When you land a project expect to be there from six months to several years there's not really any short term projects.
Advice to Senior Management
If your going to provide us with laptops don't tailor them to the sales reps and go for the middle of the road dell's something with a decent amount of screen space and disk space will go a long way's towards making the development process easier. Also don't go changing the year end promotion process at the last minute.
Pros
Full MSDN, Free health insurance (high deductible but still), 100% up to 6% match 401k, great management, encourage further learning and development, great experience.
Cons
Always moving around (consulting in general)
Not competitive salary
Promotions are just title changes
Bonus program is biased towards higher level consultants but is used to sell new grads
Advice to Senior Management
Restructure your bonus program,
Pay your talent to keep them around
Pros
Company is entrepreneurial and hires great people. Good consulting opportunities with major client companies.
Cons
Too much control at corporate headquarters of IT support.
