    Pros

    Growth opportunities are good.
    Open door policy
    Great culture

    Cons

No transperancy. No clarity in goals, execution and outcome. Everytime they plan new things and execute none. Lot of adhoc tasks

    Advice to Management

They should communicate with employees about actual plans and not make up stories that will look good. They should be straight to communicate about a persons growth, role, expectations.

    Pros

    - It's tough to find a company which provides anyone (especially freshers) so much exposure and responsibility. You work on important projects from day one and have your own code pushed to production much within the first month of joining. Mentoring roles are also given pretty early than usual.
    - Everyone works on all aspects of software development, from planning to maintenance, which is an incredible learning experience. Having it's own niche in the industry means projects are tough, plus there aren't many cookie-cutter tools or ideas which you can immediately use without internal development, which aids lots of learning.
    - People are incredibly smart, easily accessible, helpful and fun to be with. Social outings are regular and a lot of fun. A pretty flat organizational structure with opportunities to interact with most of your coworkers. Nobody sits on cubicles or glass-pane corner offices; everyone is out on simple desks, including the CXOs. Environment is pretty casual, no need for formal wear.
    - Compensation is above average, it hinges mostly on performance; you are promoted quickly if you do really good work.

    Cons

    - Work life balance is tough to maintain; almost always resource crunches and difficult deadlines. Nothing is unimportant...
    - The office isn't exactly in an area where things are available easily; small niggles like food and transportation difficulties chip off on overall experience

    Advice to Management

    - It's difficult to maintain an open culture and give all employees opportunities to contribute every day. I cannot express in words how much I have learnt from Sokrati; please please keep up the core spirit the company has.
    - Hiring needs to be made better; the company has significant technological challenges, which can be alleviated by actually getting multiple experienced high-quality employees; not just talented freshers.

    Pros

    1. You feel the startup environment free of all kinds of restrictions.

    2. Appreciates opinions - even at the fresher level. Sokrati is a people driven company. So everyone is respected equally and everyone has a say in everything. Discussions don't go along until everyone is on the same page.

    3. Plethora of technologies to work on - And you learn a great deal from them. You never know when you learn some of the complicated things like design patterns, coding best practices, no effort required. They are inherently acquired as you spend time in the company. And the products are technically challenging, you can literally brag if you have worked at Sokrati.

    4. Quick promotions - If you are good, they promote you, as simple as that. Promotion cycles are shorter, typically less than a year, and I have even seen double promotions, they actually encourage it.

    5. Growth and Ambition - You know a lot more than you peers, you know a lot more than your peers' managers, and their managers. You know a lot more. Period. And yes, you earn more too.

    6. Great people - be it Sales, Ops, Tech, everyone respects each other. Everyone is a friend. You don't feel nervous around a manager. Infact, there are no managers. Everyone is your co-worker. It feels great to work in such an environment. CXOs don't sit in AC cabins, they sit right in front of you.

    7. Flexibility - Code anytime, anywhere on your laptop. Flexible leave and Work From Home Policy.

    8. Discuss and debate anything - cricket, Batman, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, tennis, jokes - anything. People are so enthusiastic about their hobbies and passions that you learn a lot on the lunch table.

    Cons

    1. Lack of processes - Timelines are stretched by 5x sometimes. Inspite of being 5 years in the industry, they lack planning and execution that is required for engineering productivity and managing large scale products. You do not miss anything if you are on leave for a month, your team would be working on the same old issues. Also sometimes there are no fixed plans. Priorities change in between sprints.

    2. No future for average employees - You are praised and promoted only if your performance is good. Have no concept of yearly increments, if you do not get promoted in 2 years, they give you a 10% raise. At current inflation rate, that is very less.

    3. Everything is on priority - This usually leads to a bad work/life balance. People are implicitly expected to fix things out of their normal sprint time. Features take priority over bug fixes. And then those bugs keep piling up, and then there are sprints for bug fixes. No fixed processes.

    4. No fixed bonus commitments - Although faster promotions does not make this a dominant point, but still its a valid point. Especially for people who are not faster on promotions. Also sometimes, promotions are denied or withheld for very funny and stupid reasons. Employees are demotivated in such a case.

    Advice to Management

    1. Money management - You cannot expect to build every solution. Focus on the products that drive the business. Maintaining age old monitoring, deployment and Product Management tools drives down the productivity of the team. There are some tools that work out of the box, they do cost, but they will help you bring 10x revenues which may make their cost much smaller in the longer run. Use tools like Jira, Confluence for scrum planning, wiki management, they are more powerful than any other open source tools.

    2. What is the goal? Take more investment and grow, sell out or sustain? Explain these three options to employees, and explain what would the effect would be in compensation and work in all three cases. In startups people usually expect either grow or sell out, and if you want to sustain (which is a good thing to do), grow on projects that bring revenues in the short term, not the ones that bring in the longer term. Explain ESOPs, and if they do not appreciate it, keep that in mind and dole them out in favor of better salaries.

    3. Why people leave after a while - Long working hours, eagerness to learn, all these stay for a while. People expect things to ease as they progress ahead, but here even co-founders work round the clock, how can they expect anything else from the employees. But you forget that how much ever you try to gel them in, they are employees in the end. And they do not see the big picture.

    Pros

    1 Good work culture
    2 Flexible
3 Good place for learning for freshers
    4 Challenging work

    Cons

1 Pay scale not upto the mark.
2 Takes a lot to get promoted. Even if people deserves it. They will give all kind of reasons to postpone it. It takes months to complete this small small KRA's which doesn't even matter in your daily work and your talent which really matters.
3 Work life balance is not good
4 You have to work even on weekends almost every weekend due to deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Retain existing employs. Invest on employs. Company will never grow if employs leave every now and then. Even if you hire new employ it will take months to train them to the mark of leaving employs.
    Go aggressive in capturing market.

    Pros

    1] Co-founders are easily accessible
2] Visibility of all tech teams and products
3] Freedom to choose what product to work on
4] Freedom to choose what technology to use. Of course you will have to convince the tech leads why you are suggesting the change in technology
5] New suggestions are considered for review for any product
6] You can do a quick POC of your ideas and talk to internal biz-ops team for their clients to use your POC (have not done it yet, but seems doable)
7] An individual is given complete ownership of a feature in a product. Any addition/modifications in the feature, you are consulted.
8] Induction project process is good. You are the owner of complete process: writing tech spec, designing, architecture, technology and lastly access to servers to deploy your project

    Cons

1] Looking at tech leads, seems like you will really learn how to handle/delegate things. But there are always strict deadlines which are to be met, which kind of makes your life worse. Requirements at times changes 4 times in a week and we really don't know what is to be delivered (at times it because business demands it and its justified)
2] Returns in terms of money are not at par with the kind of work you do. After a point and looking at the kind of work/pay your friends are doing/getting you will feel that you are almost 40-45% underpaid. My friends started at much higher pay as freshers. Learning is a great return, but that's not going to get you a bike/car/house rent/future. If at all I leave Sokrati, it will be because of salary (as I will think of these things when I am in need of money)
3] There are some programs which hr takes initiative, but due to lack of time, company wide participation tends to nil
4] Financial visibility is sort of lacking. How has company performed month over month is not available. Not that all tech guys care about, but still is a good to have.
5] Feedback given to hr is never acted upon. Or if acted, then there is no change, not notified to the one who gives the feedback. Good at collecting feedback.

    Advice to Management

    1] act on feedback
2] drive the company in one direction.
3] You know about all the cons mentioned above -> please act on it
4] thanks for creating such an awesome culture

    Pros

compensation and perks:- better than TCS, Infosys, cognizant.
If you are not a good Techie/Business Analyst then this is the right platform to work.
If you want to switch from service to product company then this is the right platform.
If you can make happy to just some seniors from your current level then you will get good promotion.
    All three founders are good.

    Cons

    They cant hold intellects.
Almost all people are from TCS, Infosys, cognizant kind of companies.
You may face some politics inside this company.
This company is good for Tier4 onwards kind of institution.
Work life balance sucks. This is not due to lots of work instead of that due to repetitive work.
Peers institutional and professional backgrounds will haunt you.
They dunt have aggressive strategy to grow in market.

    Advice to Management

Try to attract intellects. It will help you to grow your vision.
Take feedback from new heirs or juniors.
Take some aggressive strategy to scale so that employee can think to stay for long time.
Try to get talents from product companies instead of service based company.

    - Challenging work - No kidding, you will be challenged every day.
    - Very open and friendly - I haven't had a single argument/misunderstanding with anyone since joining, made lots of valuable connections
    - Great paymasters - Ask and you shall receive - if you deserve it of course
    - Great culture

    Cons

    - You have to be able to handle your work-load. Not really a con as you will adapt quickly but it does take some adjusting to.

    Advice to Management

    Keep at it.
